I'm now the owner of a 2007 Haro V4 frame that I won on Ebay.

Thanks!!
The build is going slow. I'm wanting to have it ready for our next race on May 18th.

I have found out the hard way that most of the components off of a Trek 4300 frame won't work on a Haro frame. I guess I hadn't done my homework.
Finding out what thread size the V brake post for the rear has been the most difficult.
I thought they were 10mmx1 threads, but it now appears that they could be 1.25 or maybe even 1.5. I'm going too use a 10mmx1 tap on the one boss that I crossed threaded trying to install a V brake post from the Trek. If the "new" threads hold for a 10mmx1 post, then I'll use the tap to the other boss.
Then it's a guessing game on the bottom bracket, I ordered a 68x115 and 68x118. Hopefully one of them will be the correct size to use with the Bontrager cranks off of my Fuel 70.

This is as far as I have gotten till more parts arrive.

Well here's the finished product. V brakes, 8 speed and several Bontrager components.
I guess it's an 06 and not an 07, since the seatpost is 30.6.

The 10x1mm tap on the brake bosses worked.
And the BB (68x115) was the correct lenght for the cranks, giving me almost a 50mm chainline.

Looks like your brake post tapping is still holding.

Not sure. For the next 2 weekends at the Noxubee Trails we've got work days planned to reroute a trail from a mudslide.
I'll be sure to post on the WAMBA email list next time we head that way.
While I'm here.....
Last week I installed a LX Rear Derailleur. Works great and looks really cool.

Well, mark that off the list.
I now have a set of SunRingle Rhyno Lite rims on the V4.

I'm slowly working towards disk brakes.

Wow, I just got that same frame off Ebay this spring! Long story why I bought it, will not be using it for the original purpose. Trying to decide what to do with it. At one point I thought I was going to buy my 12 year old a 13" framed bike then move him up to the V4 frame when he outgrew it, but ended up with a 15" frame so it would be a lot of work to move over all his components for a marginally larger frame (the Haro is a 16").
So how good is this frame? I know I am opening up a can of worms asking guys in the Haro forum if a Haro frame is better than the one on his (my son's) Windsor Cliff 4900, but its worth asking I guess. Doing a scratch build is just WAY to expensive for me, just as a price comparison exercise I took the specs of the Dawes Haymaker 1500 from Bikesdirect and went Ebay/online shopping for the same compenents and came up with a price of about $800 to match the component spec of the $420 Dawes.

Well "all good things must come to an end" DAMN-IT!!!
2013 is not off to a good start for my mtn biking.

So many great memories of riding my V4. I'm glad I've got the pics and stories to remember it by.
This frame will not be forgotten or thrown away!
