Thanks GT bikes!!! - another Avalanche

So my tried and true 2003 Avalanche bit the dust in fall 2008. The chainstay cracked right in front of the dropout...bummer. The warranty on the frame was for 5 years from the purchase date (April 2003) so it was well out of warranty..... but........ GT still gave me a new warranty frame! YAY! Just another reason why GT bikes kick @$$

Click here to see the 2003 frame that was repalced

The replacement frame - spanking new '06 Avalanche 1.0

    Thanks GT!

Come on, time to polish that baby! jk. Nice ride man.

How did the old one brake on chainstay? Did you drop? Or is it from your pedaling force?

I'm afraid it's just a designed in USA sticker.

I noticed the crack when I removed the rear wheel for some regular service stuff. I suppose that being ridden hard for 6 years with something like 4000km off road on it was enough to make it give in. Not to mention I'm a 235lbs clyde, that may have had some bearing on it.

Thats customer service there!!! I got a good laugh out of the stickers as well when my sons bike arrived. I'll bet they sell a few extra bikes because of that.

no doubt...... I had to peel off a cheesy "made in China" sticker off right above the big "USA" one. The fine print on the stick says "designed in California USA".
But, wherever its made, its still a sexy frame for free. Thanks again GT!

Now I'm being tempted to grab the paint stripper and polish and go at it like my old avalanche 1.0
