    Post your Sensor pics here!

    As the Sensor is a fairly new and not so common rig of GT stable, I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread with as many Sensors as we could collect. Frames, complete bikes, stock or upgraded, 26ers or 29ers.

    So all Sensor owners are welcome to post their horses.

    Let me start with mine. Still not built after almost 3 months due to multiple reasons and hope to finish it soon, but anyway here's the beginning:

    Mipi - The build up looks great so far...I'm really diggin the fork! Did you by chance get a weight on the exotic stem? I have been running their carbon post on my 9r for years and I recall it being very light.

    Yes, the fork looks fantastic. Let's see how it performs.

    About the carbon eXotic stem, I ordered 2 of them, 80mm, one for the Sensor and the other for the Avalanche 1.0 I have. Well it's strange but one stem is just a bit longer than the other. The longer is 131g and the shorter 125g. I guess they must be from different production lines or it's just a factory malfunction. The built quality is very good though.

    I was almost ready to order the 31.6 / 350mm eXotic carbon post as well that is a wonderful post but I was afraid to sit on a carbon one so I finally bought the white FSA SL250 alloy. But after your thoughts I guess I should have bought it instead. On the eXotic site it has a 188g weight and the FSA is 265g. I'm not a weight maniac but the eXotic post looks fantastic!

    No pics here, I got my Sensor 2.0 in december.I really like it!. I put on a salsa triple bash guard, Hanger banger, and WTB grips.I got a great deal at Performance bike $1425 with 10% back in additional savings

    They're really diferente the mojo is 150mm in front and 140mm on the back, the sensor is only 120mm front and back, the sensor is great on teh uphills the mojo on the downhills, they have a really diferent feelling but a like them both.

    hugobball, is there any reason to mount the shock in opposite direction than I mounted mine, I mean is it just ergonomics to mount the shock with the can on the back;

    It was mounted this way be have better reach of the lockout nob. But I really never did use it, I think the idrive sistem is so stiff that there isn't almost any pedal bouncing.

    In the front I regulary use the lockout in the uphills, but even there I think it behaves prety well without it.

    For me this frame, and my setup is really agille, very nice for small technical trails, the whells are so light you can point your direction without using any strenght.

    Thanks mipi. It is definitely worth the weight. Honestly I couldn't even tell because I upgraded the seat, tubes and tires at the same time. So the bike was actually a lot lighter overall when I actually got it on a trail. However If I could do it again, I would probably buy the longer travel post because when I get in my dirt jump moods, I actually have to lower the post to get more clearance.

    The only things left for me to do on my ride are to change out the stock crankset, rear shifter and rear derailleur (short cage). Turning my sensor into a 1x9 drivetrain was another weight-saving must-have that I would probably recommend. Houston is pretty flat so I don't miss the extra gears.

    My girlfriend has a Sanction, the grey and pink one with all pink X0 and Noir on it, oh and she has pink I9's, and to top it off she has a carbon wishbone
    I like to ride bikes fast.

    Here's one of mine. 2010 Pre-production Sensor 9r.

    We made some tweaks to the frame/rear triangle for the final production version, but I've been riding this bike for nearly two years, and it's my favorite in the stable. As it sits, it's at 26.7lbs for an X-Large.

    Here's the new ride, I just picked up this '10 Sensor 2.0 at Performance about two weeks ago, ordered in store from the Red Phone in early May, they matched the Nashbar $ at that time of $1500,00 + double Performance points for May so I also got the $300 credit. I just got it out for the 2nd ride, It is awesome. I love the XL frame, I'm 6'1" and it fits perfect. It climbs great and descends even better.

    did the same thing but it was in april so no double points, and it was 1600 for a week on nashbar, but still a could deal with the 160credit.

    I used the 90 day price guarantee once already and got an additional $107 back after tax, GiantNerd is selling the XL for $1399 now, but honestly If you just printed out the price I don't know if Performance. requires the same size you have to be in stock or just the bike.

    Nice bike! I would ride it and as things start wearing down, replace them. Highrollers are great tires but roll slow. Maybe replace something faster?

    The orange really looks nice. Bike looks fast and mean!

    These 2011 Sensors are simply fantastic. The color shemes are spectacular.

    I'm a noob here, so I'm not allowed to post pics yet, but once I can, I'll be putting up my Sensor 9r. I believe it's a late-2010 model, in a cool platinum green color that looks purple under LED night lights. I've had it for about a month, and it's transformed my riding.

That's what GT says, anyway. 5 inches of travel front and rear, a little heavy, but hey, it weighs the same as my Kona -- right around 30 pounds. I'm still planning on racing it in the fall.

    This bike is a bargain, too. I got mine at Performance -- went in looking for some shorts, came out with a bike. List was $2,300, discounted to $1,799, then 15% off that for the Memorial Day sale, brought it to about $1,550 plus tax. Apparently, it had sat on the floor there for a while, and they were getting desperate to get rid of it. I guess Performance doesn't usually attract the kind of person who would drop 2 large on a bike? Oh well, their loss was my gain.

    In summary, I think the GT Sensor 29er is a real value in the FS 29er market. It's not sexy, or the super-serious XC 29er like my brother's Ellsworth Evolve 29er, but it's transformed my riding.

    Finally I finished the Sensor originaly started on this thread. After a long night fighting with the brakes and drivetrain, first "virgin" ride at 04:30 in the morning (it was night actually) around the neighborhood in the dark!
    Being used only on my hardtail, an Avalanche 1.0, it was quite a surprise how the rear end felt. It was like I was sitting on a couch. No more knocks on my butt, everything was passing so melow (and the Avalanche is not the hardest hardtail). Both bikes have exactly the same saddle so the difference was at least dramatic, like I changed from a stiff saddle to a VERY plush one!

    The bike felt a lot lighter than the Avalanche and acceleration was noticeably faster. In reality I don't think there is so much weight difference but it definitely felt!

    From that very first ride what I didn't like:
    -The DT Swiss fork when dived hard on speed it produces a "clang" sound like a hammer hitting.
    -Superstar Switch Evo rear freewheel is loud. Way louder than the Shimano XT on the hardtail which is almost silent.
    -No power from the brakes yet. The Avid Juicy Ultimates need bed in as I didn;t have any serious power but I didn't want to push them hard, force has to be applied gradually.
    -And the rear shifting needs more tuning as it derails gears right now.

    What I liked mostly was that even with rear sag exceeding 30% and the Monarch 4.2 in the open position I didn't notice ANY pedal feedback even on hard pedaling. Almost like the hardtail but a lot more comfortable, a sign that GT's i-drive system is a very efficient one. Thank's GT!!!

    Overall I'm more than happy with my Sensor for the moment. Well spent night even if my wife says I'm going nuts!

    I bought a new frame without shock and searched for discounted new parts. After a while I had everything needed. The DT Swiss was a heavily discounted offer that I couldn't miss.

    Just weighted the Sensor. 12.38kg with pedals, and as the Xpedo flats weigh 240g that makes the bike weigh 12.14kg without them (about 26.74lb).

    The 2011 Pro is a sweet build. My 2010 model didn't come in Expert and Pro, and kind of straddles the builds between the two. I've got the Fox fork like the Pro, but low-end LX/SLX 3x9 drivetrain instead of the 2x10 XT of the Pro. So of course, what did I just order from Performance? 2x10 XT crankset. I used the Performance Points I had from buying the bike, so it's like free stuff!

    thanks, I am loving it so far. the wheels makes it handle even better. going to put on a X0 crankset this fall to drop some weight and change the gearing.

    How do you guys like the sensor? I just got my Force 3.0 and I found out Nashbar has a sale one the Sensor 2.0 for less than the cost of my force (both 2010 models). I couldn't decide which one I want so I just bought both, the Sensor will be here by Saturday. I will have to see which one I like better for the type of trails I ride.

    i just got the 9er pro about a month ago and love it. probably more bike than what i need but got a smokeing deal on it. so far other than a little adjustments here and there great bike look forward to riding it all the time

    Im ordering a Sesor 2.0 next week when they go on sale at Performance for 15% off to replace the Mongoose that has a cracked frame. Cant wait to get it! Itll be green....not my choice in color, but the least of my worries!!! Well be a 3 GT bike household...I have a Carbon Pro road bike, the Fiancee had a Avalance 1.0 and now a soon to be Sensor! Im excited!!!!

    Have them price match Nashbar. I did, got my sensor 2.0 for 1200.

    i did that too but that was a 2010 i believe he is talking about ordering a 2011 since its green

    Yeah, Im ordering the 2011 thats near a neon green and has a SLX 10spd drivetrain. I saw the black.grey one your talking about on Nashbar. Im already "downgrading" from XT components to SLX, but I think the newer SLX stuff will be as nice as the older XT stuff I was riding. Regardless, I had been thinking about updating some things anyways.....what better way than a whole new rig??

    I havent seen this green in person yet...it may take a trip to the power coater this winter for a matte-black finish....???

    anyone posting any pics of the green Sensor 2.0? (the 2011)....i'm on the fence between getting my wife the 2011 sensor 2.0 or a Force 3.0. She's a biker, but not mountain. Thinking the Sensor would be lighter than Force, right? (i'm a Specialized guy, don't know GT too well). And therefore easier on her transition from roadie to dirt slinger

    In my opinion get her the Sensor because:
    -she's not an avid mountain biker
    -Sensor is lighter
    -Force is taller and for more aggressive riding

    New update on the bike:
    Easton haven bar
    Easton havoc 65mm stem
    M985 xtr trail pedal
    Slx crank
    Ztr crest stock wheels

    Cut the weight down to 26.0lbs w pedals.
    Size small with a downyuppy seatpost

    im pretty happy with the weight considering nothing on it carbon. itll probably get heavier when i get a new front tire 2.4 MKii Race Sport and more the 2.2MK to the rear. but will go tubeless so that may negate the heavier tire

    i dont know exactly how much lighter it is but i can imagine it is i believe the stock one was steel/mixture this one is aluminum and no pins. its a e.13 chain guide ring. bought it more for the color than the weight saving removing the outer rings was already a huge saving

    I got my spare from ebay.If you are near Escondido Ca. I can loan you my spare if that will help.Also I am using the 4jeri derrailleur guard which really helps keep from breaking that short axle on the derrailleur mount

    I'm renting a Sensor 29r tomorrow while I am out of town in Utah.
    I cant wait to see how the Sensor compares to my Force and if like to wagon wheels. I have always had some remorse for not getting the Sensor, but I am really starting to like how I have setup my Force.

    Is that for me? Check my profile. I just added elixir cr brakes still using the csg2 rotors if that's not on there is might a little lighter

    I have since put sunringle black flag pro wheels, avid xx rotors, maxxis ikon tires tubeless, esi grips, slk seat post... she now weighs right at 27lbs.

    I just finished my sensor with a pike 426 Solo Air.
    Still climbs great and is much more fun on downhills. Haven't taken any pictures yet, just one before I built it up.

    Are all the Sensor frames the same? Is the weight the same or are these white frames lighter with different tubing? I just picked up a 2011 Sensor 3.0 from Performance, I have only ridden it once at the bike park but really liked it. I am looking forward to getting back up there this week.

    So how much higher can you go in front travel & how does it affect the overall handling? I am thinking of putting a stiffer plusher front fork on my Sensor 3.0 & would appreciate the slacker HA when I ride the chair lifts. What's the downsides to putting something like a Rockshox Domain at 160mm of travel at the ski hill then back down to 130mm on my typical XC rides?

    I ride my sensor with a 140mm Pike 456 Air.
    The longer Fork slackens the head angle and rises the bottom bracket.
    When descending I like the handling very much, when going up I realize that I sit pretty much backwards. Climbing Abilities are still better than on my sanction with a MZ 55 RC3ti.
    I wouldn't want more than 140 mm on the front with my sensor, because it starts to feel imbalanced. I think 130mm are the best choice for the bike, but 140 is also OK!

    I tried my Sensor 1.0 with the DT Swiss XMC130 forks on very steep rocky trails and climbs perfect. No backwards feeling. As said, I believe 120-130mm is the best travel for this frame. More than that and it starts feeling unbalanced.
    If you want more travel it's better to get a Force.

    Of course. Bare frame size medium without headset or rear shock but with all shock bolts and shock bushings and rear derraileur hanger (as pictured) was 2753g on my digital scales. This digital scales has 1g step and weighs from 0-5kg and is very accurate. I guess 2753g is 6,064lb.

    Thx mipi, that would make around 3,050 gr. including shock, about the same as my ano Heckler I'm looking to replace.

    The RockShox Monarch 4.2 I installed weighed just a bit over 200g so overall weight with shock was just below 3.0kg .

    I have the same frame size, but had no chance to weight a frame alone or even complete bike.
    Well, 2753g without shock is not lightweight, of course. I suspected frame is rather heavy. But it rides just as good as my light hardtail, and just cause i can forgive a lot
