    my GT Force (update)

    Update on my GT Force..

switched to 810mm bars and just put a chainguide on. First time to fit one so I had some problems with clearances but I sorted those out.

My problem now is I think I'll need a ton of service on my rear hub HAHA. Hope I wont need to get a new one.

I built the RTS with parts I had laying around. Still looking for more vintage stuff, seatpost, stem, wider bars. I still have some Onza H.O brakes I can put on. And a Pace RC53 on the way. Still need to get the Noleen serviced.

Beautiful looking machine - never seen one of these before.
Like to have a closer look at the rear suspension system / setup.
What year GT / model is it ?

It's a GT RTS (1 or team, I don't know) from '94. The suspension uses a rocker at the bottom to actuate the shock:

Because of the high pivot, the design has pretty awful chainpull. But is is really comfy on the downhill sections.

That was a design feature back in the day, suspension when you coasted, locked out when you pedaled to make it like a HT... well they were still trying to figure out suspension back then, seemed liek a good idea at the time.

    Post your GT here!!!

Finally came around to switch to disc brakes on the '00 XCR3000 in Large.

BB7's with front 160 HS1 and rear 140 Storm SL. Plus new front wheel Easton XC One, very light and well made. Blue Kore linear brake housing greatly match the lighter powder blue of the bike.

Note : after these pics were taken, we fine tuned the calipers position (height and angle) to lower them on the rotors and get the pads angled perfectly with the rotors too. Lots of sanding and grinding to get the perfect fit.

Cool bike! My first full suspension I ever got...beat the CRAP out of it and ended up cracking it near the seat post. Good luck with the parts.

Finished for now until I find a nice Syncros seatpost (27.0), stem and handlebars. I would like to replace the Raceface Next SL cranks with Syncros revolutions, but those are sooo expensive.

Looks like a '93, you can confirm by looking at the serial # on the bottom bracket, but IIRC that paint and graphics was only for '93 for the Outpost. I've got one just like it outfitted as my commuter. My only gripe about it is the oddball location for mounting a rear racks' stays, but I should be thankful because it led me to using a large saddlebag (18 liter Zimbale, similar to a large Carradice) on a Carradice quick release saddlebag support. I wouldn't have explored this method of carrying my gear otherwise, and I REALLY like it.

    Enjoy your GT!

P.S. Let me know if you have any questions about that bike, I did end up switching out the brakes almost immediately, good cantis are great, but the ones that came with it seemed to be useless.

Um, yeah, that outpost is a 96, the graphics are 96 and looks exactly like the red one in the 96 catalogue.

Good catch! On my '93 the graphics are white and silver dot matrix style inside a a black outline. At first glance they appeared the same.

Hello all, I have recently dusted off my 95ish? GT mountain bike and started riding again. I have had it since about 99. If possible I would like to see if you guys could help me identify it. The color is silver, the SN on the bottom is SK5H0157, it has 7005 stamped on the back forks. The components are as follows.
Front derailer is a shimano Alivio
Rear Derailer is a shimano Acera
Front crank is Shimano Acera Hyperdrive -C
    Brakes are Shimano Altus
Shifters are 3spd up front 7 spd back optical rapid fire- Dual SIS ST-M290
Front hub is a shimano Altus
    Rear hub is a Parallax?
Now Onto the pics.. From the searching I have found, the frame has the same look as the avalanche and Zaskar. I say that because of the weld up front by the goose neck and the thickness of the tubes.

This pic is of remnants of a sticker. It was peeled off on both sides before I got it years and years ago. The down tube sticker I believe said, "ALL GT Terra"

thanks for checking it out.. I plan on prolly doing some front shocks and some WTB Velociraptor tires. I have been putting some miles back on it in the trails and it is quite fun! I have missed it!

Although GT carried that gusset design forward from the nicer bikes into their lower end offerings in later years, the parts spec on this bike would indicate something farther down the food chain than a Zaskar or Avalanche.
I know the "All Terra" was associated with the Outpost in '93 and the years right around that IIRC, and IIRC my '88 Timberline also said "All Terra" on it.
My impression is that the "All Terra" branding went with a number of their lower end (up to maybe middle of the line up) offerings for a number of years.
I'm betting that your bike is a few years newer than '95, hopefully one of our serial # guru's will chime in and decipher it for you.
A page or two back I posted what I was able to glean from this thread in the way of serial number information, it could well be that post would help you as well.

I think I might have found what kind it is from another post from 2008 on here. Here is a picture of a 95 GT tempest. I looked it up on bikeapedia and most of the running gear matches to what I have as well. The sticker outlay looks like it could be the word tempest..
Here are the pics that I found . Looks exactly like mine.

Here is the post I found.

    2012 GT Avalanche 2.0

    Post your GT here!!!-imag0407.jpg

    Hello everyone!

This is my 2012 GT Avalanche 2.0. It's completely stock except for the stem and handlebar. I opted to swap the stock flat top riser bar out for a Gravity Gap riser bar, but I don't really like it, specifically the 9 degrees of back sweep. I would prefer a straight riser bar, but I'm not having any luck finding one for under $45 and in white. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions!

you guys all seem to have more stickers than mine though ie xcr3000 etc
mine just says i drive 2.0?

this is mine and me buds gt's the carrera is our shared just incase bike lol it was originally a hybrid but it sucked and the forks were only 30 so why not
