I ride the Force in the Bay Area, ranging from cross country rides in Saratoga Gap to full on downhill sessions at Carlmont. Does everything wonderfully. :)

Great looking build. But don't you feel like you need/want more powerful brakes? I've taken my bike down DH tracks on Non-series Shimano brakes and I really felt they were lacking. Upgraded to SLX.

And what's your HTA now with the works components and the offset bushings?

    Thanks!

Brakes are not an issue for me, and the increased rotor size already added tons of leverage already.

To be honest I do not know the true HTA because of too many variables. For example, the "stock" HTA was 69 degrees with a 2.1" rear and 2.3" front tire. But since I am using tires of the same size, but have reduced the HTA by 1.5 degrees with cups, and another unknown value with the offset reducers, I really cannot say what the angle is. My iPhone has an angle finding app but those have been known to be +/- 1.5 degrees so I don't even bother with it.

Bottom line is, the bike feels waaaaaay better. :)

Hello to all fans of GT! I want to show you my bike. GT Avalanche 1.0 2009. I bought this bike August 23, 2010.
2.5 years, I traveled on this bike 20000 km. Use it as a vehicle to get around the city all year round in all weather, sometimes make a little trip into the countryside.
Replaced in the bike the parts that I did not like. And that's what I did.

Not mine, but a friends. Can anyone ID it? She says she thinks it's a 2009 Zaskar Expert, but doesn't match up with any pics I've seen. I'm not able to inspect in person.

good buy man... I picked up a peace 9r SS and it was a real kewl bike... sadly the geometry just didn't fit me very well :-/ so I traded the frame outright for a surly 1x1 frame

wish the GT would have fit... i've dug the triple triangle back in the 90's... even had an '88 avalanche... and the blue fade paint job was just awesome... but if it doesn't fit it's not worth riding :-/

enjoy the new rig man thats A LOT of bike for the $$$

thank you bro! since the first time riding it i fell in love with it.. i couldn't believe the previous owner let it go for so cheap. since i got it i've changed the grips for specialized ergo's and redline bmx pedals. i hate the wtb laser saddle!

I'm with you on the saddle... the size is right but the shape seems wrong for me and those seams don't help at all :-/

i find it interesting a lot of riders have them on their bikes but can't figure out why. i've been working on different positions and it still sucks. i ride a lot on my road bike with a fizik arione and think it's the most comfortable saddle in the market.
