    2001 zaskar team

    hi guys,

I have a beautiful 2001 Zaskar Team frame that I'm in the process of rebuilding into a singlespeed. I would like to install a new XTR crank that comes with an external bottom bracket. But I don't know if the '01 Zaskar Team BB shell is designed, or if the frame is spaced, for an external bottom bracket. Can somebody please clarify this for me? Thank you.

Yes no problem with regular external BB. I use XTR and XT on my 93 and 95 Zaskar.

It`s done. Very happy with the performance. it`s not heavy at all, now it`s 38.8lb, I can still drop a few more weight from a better handle bar, better seat, a X9 rear mech, and a ti spring. those will bring it down to 37.5lb I think. it`s solid, low and plush.

I will update some better photos tomorrow.

Hard to believe I've had this bike for 21 years. I rebuilt it mostly with parts from upgrading other bikes, and bought a some new stuff as needed. I took it out for a 43 mile ride on the paved bike path today, and it rides better than ever. I was going to do a repaint but thought that the scratches and stickers from the illustrious '90s gave it more character. I somehow managed to keep the original GT bottle that it came with!

    My Marathon

    I have a 2009 Marathon Expert Carbon.

I've added carbon bars, a 50mm stem, DT Swiss wheels and hubs, a Maverick dropper post, a 185mm front rotor and an XTR crankset. It's been a really good bike thus far. Unfortunately, I broke the dogbone the other day and had to order one through the LBS where I purchased the frame.

Stock up. I've gone through 6 or 7 dog bones on my 2008 GT Marathon Team. Loved the bike, but those things break too often. I'm only 150# too.

I'm considering going to a local metalworking shop and seeing if they can make a titanium part for me. It should be a relatively simple part to produce.

Nice bike - The frame/cranks have less than few ride in the dirt since 2000. I had two of these bikes. This frame/crank setup has had street duty.....

NICE! I've got almost the same bike set up as my commuter ('93 Outpost, looks like maybe a different fork). The only pictures I have of it aren't the most flattering and right now its got a temporary saddle on it and its SQR and saddlebag removed, so I'll hold off on posting pics of it here until I get my broken saddle back from the manufacturer and get her looking pretty again.

    Wink

Here is my winter project. 90's something GT Outpost Trail. Bought for my wife brand new. Has sat in the garage with maybe 15-20 miles on it since it was bought. I turned it into a SS this past summer. This winter I'm going to do some more updating to it.

Here is the list of things I have planned to change over the winter.
    1. Crank
    2.headset,& handlebars
    3. update to V-brakes, and levers.
    4.tires, and maybe rims.
    5. Might strip the paint and have it powder coated.
All of this is dependent on the Budget(wife) allowing it.
Would like to make this in to my SS rocket as 2nd bike to my GF HooKoo 1X9.
Just remember,Where ever you go there you are...
