UPS just dropped this off yesterday. 1998 Zaskar with XTR/XT. The frame is pretty scratched up, so I'm trying to decide whether to strip it to raw aluminum myself, or have the local powdercoater strip and refinish it ($100 to do a bare frame).

New decals are available on eBay from Felzno, good luck getting those old ones off. Use a heat gun on low and a plastic razor blade if you can find one.
Needed: 26.8mm XTR seatpost, blue GT/Grundig Jersey.

Nice! I like how the handlbar, grips, fork, and saddle are white. Now if you could somehow get all of the cables white, that'd be even better!

This GT Karakoram Elite '91 came from California (L.A.) to Köllifornia (Cologne, Germany) in June 2009. It took me some time to bring it back to the trails (job related) but finally here is it. New Parts: Rims, Spokes, Tires, Saddle.
NOS: Deore DX Hubs, DX thumb shifters, Tioga Avenger Headset and Prestige Seatpost (1991)...

    Do you remember it, Carlos?

Thank you for your kind words. I know it should have all cables white but the ones left black are the brake hoses that are original and it will be difficult (if not impossible) to find white color ones and replace them.

I decided a while back that I'd try to find an early RTS, LTS and STS to add to my stable of GT hardtails. I found this "Garage Queen" lying in the weeds at a great price last week. I spent a tad over five hours with a toothbrush and cotton swabs removing light surface oxidation caused by So. Cal salt air. I swapped the saddle, grips and front brake back to original spec and had to replace the left side down tube decal due to a poor packing job which allowed the wheel to rattle against the frame in transit. Air'd up the fork and shock and it's an amazing ride. Now to find the other two.

I assume it has 1 1/8'' head tube?

Was it still Toyo made, Tange Prestige, or True Temper already? It looks very nice. Tastier than some Zaskars.

Great Looking bike! That Karakoram Elite is Tange Double Butted seamless chromoly. A step below Prestige. You can clearly see the purple and pink Tange label in one of the pictures.

    2008 GT Zascar Expoert Carbon

This is a photo of my new adquisition, a 2008 GT Zascar Carbon expert (Bought new last weekf from performance bike in clearance for $1430 shipped)

I changed already the flatbar to a FSA K-Force DH 40 degrees rise bar and Specialized Contour BG, here is a picture in the rack:

New Mavic Crosstrials are on the way, since don't like too much the silver hubs and spokes look with the black rim, will post more pictures soon!

Francisco - Kind of off topic, but what is that black shield thing you have stretched from the fork to the saddle?

On topic, I'm just waiting for a new wheelset, then I'll be posting a few before and after pics of my 2000 Aggressor.

I’ve just finished my custom build GT. I spent far too long doing this and it tried my patience’s on numerous occasions (with plenty of mistakes made and lessons learnt) … but eh, it was all worth it in the end.

The parts are mix of new and old:-

Frame Avalanche 3.0 (07) re-sprayed, forks F120 RLC 09, X.9 shifters & rear mech, XT front and PG 971 cassette, XT front, Brakes Avid BB7s with SD 7 levers, wheels front Mavic XM-117 and WTB laserdisc trail on the rear, cables XTR (brakes) and Jagwire (gears), Easton bars and stem.

Post some bigger pics around BB area, would you? Is it repainted?

I ask this because it almost looks like a steel frame. I don't remember Aggressor in steel. If it is repainted, all bets are off, if could be Tequesta or Tarela from 1993 or 1994 ish. Looks like a decent wheel set you got.

Nice bike, I really like the color and that fork looks the business. As far as the Spoon saddle is concerned I have one and they need to be broken in. Then you are golden.

    Thank you very much.
About the saddle, ahhhh, don't think I can stand it. Too stiff for me. It doesn't look like it will get better. Maybe I 'll give it another chance...

91 GT Avalanche in Daktari White

Just finished this one. Had been sitting on the frame and fork for a couple years and finally took the time to throw some parts on it. I have the original paint-to-match stem hiding somewhere. All to original spec except the tires and upgrades to XT derailleurs. Tange Prestige frame w/internally routed rear brake cable, flip flop II stem and 2s4 fork.

    Hey guys,

Here's a pic of my first frame up build (its a 90's aluminum frame - just assuming it's an Avalanche)

I have a whole post with tons of pics and all of the prices I paid for anyone who is interested here:

You're right. My Zaskar is still an awesome bike. I would like to overhaul some parts on it and get her riding nice again.

Some sweet GT's in this thread.

Picked up this 2003 Avalanche 1.0 a while back. It's pretty much unused and perfect for
me. Has a nice Mavic wheelset, and I've changed out the saddle for a Specialized BG one
    which is 100% better.

Planning on new forks, maybe something like Rockshox Tora 302. Not going to fit discs
or anything, will be looking at a new Avalanche next year maybe if I'm upgrading.

Thought I would post this here for all the Gt fan's to enjoy. My second Gt mountain bike in 13 years. Not quite as sought after as my Zaskar but nice none the less.

Tomorrow will be my first day on singletrack with it as I have not been able to sneak out of work early since I picked it up Tuesday. Changed the pedals to XT clipless and have a couple of other parts on the way to change out. I will post pictures as it changes.

    198X GT Outpost

I'm the original owner of this bike and I have no idea how old it is. The local bike shop says they can't determine the age either. I'm guessing late 80's as it is a pre-triple triangle design. I've stripped off all the shifters, front derailer and cables and ride it in 48/16 single speed for all my around town needs. Rolls on Bontrager H2's with a fancy seatpost mount rack with attached milk crate. Attached to the handlebars is a small battery powered speaker system for cruisin' tunes. Any info on this bike would be appreciated.

And one from the other side, when I was still riding a 38/16 ratio and before I got it really set up for commuting.

A recent small accident broke spokes on the front and rear wheels and broke both brake levers. I was going less than 5mph but everything just fell wrong.

Yours is a 1990 model year. In 1991 the Outpost was changed to a triple triangle frame.

    Nice!
Just bought from ebay a new Sensor 1.0 2010 frame without shock and it's on the way to me.
Can't wait to get it and start building it. For the moment I have a new DT Swiss XMC 130 fork and a new set of Avid Juicy 7s. For the shock I will search for a DT Swiss XM180 on offer.

    1997 Gt Ricochet

Here's the 1997 GT Ricochet I just bought for my sister. Everything stock (Shimano STX drivetrain), except shifters got stripped and needed to be replaced. Too bad the bike shop replaced them with shimano no-names. I guess it's alright though, since my sister is a very light rider, and the bike was only $100 bucks anyways...
