    New Sanction 1.0 (Pics)

Buddy just got this new Sanction 1.0. It's a nice bike. We were doing some suspension setup on it today and will take it out on its first ride tomorrow.

One thing that was odd is that GT speced a 0 deg rise stem with a low-rise bar. Fortunately, I had a Thompson 10 deg X 90 sitting on the shelf for him. Still low for an AM bike but it's to his liking I think. Also, the DT rims are pretty narrow so if you're planning on going to a tire bigger than a 2.35 you might have an issue.

    Check out the pics.

Nice bike! I like the weld running down the top of the toptube. You can see where the welder took a lunch break in the middle of that weld. And then returned to resume work on that bead. Look at the weld at the point directly in line with the pedals [in the picture] and you will see what I am talking about.

First ride today. My buddy was pretty stoked. It's on the chunky side but it pedals really well.

    You aren't a welder, huh?

By the way, seriously nice Gt.
I'd hit it, but I bruise like a peach.

So you're saying that you don't see the stop in the weld and then the restart? The bead is a flawless bead up until that point. It continues on to be a flawless bead, but that one section would bother me. Not to say that it would be a weak point, but just the looks of it would bother me. IMO a weld that is that visible on the top of the top tube should have no flaws. Not to say that it isnít a nice bike.

[SIZE=2][SIZE=2]Anyone know the weight in lbs (accurately) of the Force 1.0? The ad says 13.7kg but that just makes me wonder where all the weight has come from.

Also those who have ridden one, is it, for comparison, as fast as a Stumpy excluding any extra weight?

So how's that Sanction riding? How are climbs and singletrack?

I'm considering the same bike for the trails of Vermont and a little summer downhill. It looks great, that's for sure!

13.7 for the force would be close, the Marathon 1 is about 12.8 and the force has a much bulkier frame

My friend tried to post but he gets an error. Anyway, the bike is great. It climbs and descends well. It's not an XC bike so it is heavy and you can feel it. We have another in the group that just ordered a Force 3.

Dirtjunk, You are funny. You don't just stop in the middle of a weld, especially on a monocoque frame. The materials have to be heated to the same temperature in order to adhere properly. I agree, not the prettiest though...

Geese, I guess that welders that weld for Santa Cruz take lunch breaks as well cause my Nomad the exact same thing on the top tube. Pretty sure he just hesitated there. I doubt he stopped, then came back later and finished...

I was joking about him stopping and taking a lunch break. Yeah he stopped [hesitated] and then continued on. My point was that a weld that is that visible [on the top of the top tube] the welder should take pride in his work and make it flawless. We pay big bucks for these frames, we should get a frame that has attention to detail in the construction of it.
