how can i put a date to my gt timberline?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me some more about my gt timberline. Ive owned it for a few years now and bought it from a guy i knew who couldnt tell me much about it. Im in the UK but presuming GT imported the same bikes here as they sold in the USA.
Anyone know what the frames made of and how old it is?
    thanks.

I'd have to say late 90's, in 2000 they went to an aluminum frame. Also, I had an Outpost (steel frames) from '95 that had much older style graphics. So I'd bet between 97-99.

Looks pretty good either way, are all the parts stock?

It looks like it does have some upgrades over stock Timberlines. The 1999 came with a Jett XC suspension fork, 1998-older had rigid forks and the 2000 - newer have aluminum frame. So my best guess is that its a 1999, but I could be wrong.

I poked around bikepedia.com and could not find that color / decal combo. All in all though it certainly is a nice Timberline..... I really like the older GT steel frames.

that decal color scheme is consistent with the 2000 model year bikes and the 2000 model year was steel. It be a 2000. Proof is in the catalog pudding. Saddle, seat post, handlebar are all stock on yours. Appears that yours has the option spec Jett fork also per the catalog...Enjoy!
