That's actually a good move, Tyler McCaul actually does the same thing for his carbon force.

First and foremost, this thread is awesome! Seems like everyone here is very helpful. I am just getting back into riding after being out over 10 years and shopping for bikes now. I really think I want to buy a GT Force 3.0 since I grew up on GT/Dyno BMX bikes. I trust the brand and never experienced any problems with them. Just wondering if you had to redo it all over if you would still buy the GT Force over other comparable bikes?

Re: GT Sanction and Force reference thread

If I had to buy at retail, I probably would go with a different suspension platform. Something a bit more active and squishy, but the value I got on this bike was awesome, and it works quite well. I am more than happy with it, and it could really become better still with some upgrades.

Maybe save up for the 2.0, you may want better components soon, but depending on how hard you want to ride, the Force is a great platform at any component level. I love my Force and it continues to challenge me and exceed my capabilities. i enjoy tweaking the bike to meet my needs. Good luck.

If I could do everything over again I would have gone with the Sanction or Distortion, because I only climb for the downs and the Force is really smack dab in the middle of things. But with the changes I've made to the Force I can't help but love it.

If you can afford the 2.0 or 1.0 do it, because upgrading can get a little crazy.

I feel you, here in Florida I think a Sanction would be overkill (weight wise), but i sometimes might want a little more head angle on the steep stuff. But srsly it's a helluva bike.

    o-rings.

I was following this thread about shock leaks, and learned about new "quad" buna seals. Here's a description:
    486212 1/8X7/8X1-1/8 QUAD O-RING #212
Post #25 in this thread talks about them.
Huge amount of air loss in Rock Shox Monarch shock

Maybe this info might help for sealing the pivots...and helping those who want to improve their shocks as well.
Just need to find the correct size(s) needed. If and when somebody does, chime in and let us know the sizes and buying info.
    ...hope this helps.

Appreciate all the help guys! If I could afford the 2.0 or 1.0 I would buy one. Unfortunately, I cannot. Think I will have fun upgrading the 3.0. Thanks again.

...Not sure what to ask for it though.I paid a hundred bucks for it,but I don't plan to ask that little for it...just because I catted a killer deal.
But it won't be that much.

Was wondering what size frame I need. Chart shows I should go with an xl frame being I'm 6'1". But if I were 6' I should go with a large frame. Since I'm more use to a bmx frame from growing up on one, could or should I go with the large.

If you're on the cusp of frame sizes, I would really try to ride both bikes to see, or at least one or the other. I know that's not always easy, but messing with stems and offset seat posts to bandaid a poor fit isn't any fun.

I love my Force, wish it had slacker lines - found a way to get the workscomponents angleset headset but they cost a bit much locally.

Would've gone with the Sanction even if it was heavier than the Force. The Distortion looks good and seems more all around (a friend owns one) though. Still, wish I could have gone with the Sanction, the geo just seems more to my liking.

Time to save up for a new headset I guess? haha

I am 6'2" and went large and can barely stand over it comfortably. I'd go large dude, unless your torso is disproportionately small and your arm span and leg length are really long. The large feels big to me, and I would describe my build is average... but ride one at least!

GT Sanction and Force reference thread

I'm 6'1" and I rock a medium. It's the same size as the nomads large and ibis mojo larges and a few others. I would vote just a large cause these babies run a bit large.

I'm 6'1" and my large with a 50mm stem and 760mm bars fits perfect.

I stand at 5'10" and went with the Large but I run a 35mm stem with a 760mm high rise bar to get things feeling playful. I know the medium is my right size but I also knew that I liked the handling of uber short stems especially when things start pointing waaaaaay down; I like to ride drops that pretty much go vertical and my setup gives me confidence. With the medium, the reach would have been too cramped to climb with a short stem.
