    Unboxed

    Just received my order yesterday.

Once you open the box you get:
    • Remote lockout lever and cable (no housing) for the Float X rear shock
    • Spare dropout with what looks like covers for the pivot link
    • Cable guides for the downtube
    • Quick-release seat clamp
    • iDrive tag
    • Manual

The frame is secured in the middle of the box and is generously wrapped in compact foam.

Frame Weight (with shock; size is SMALL): 3.17kg ; 6.99 lbs

    GT Sanction -- 650b-p2110232.jpg

I'm still not too sure on what components to pair this with. I will probably need a month to complete the bike.

    Currently undecided:
160mm Pike vs 170mm Fox 36; RaceFace vs Truvativ; hybrid Shimano 1x11 (RF cranks, XTR cogs, shifter, and RD) vs full SRAM XO1; Light-Bicycle carbon vs ZTR FlowEX; Shimano vs Guide vs Hope (brakes)

Confirmed: Schwalbe tires, Reverb seatpost, and Hope hubs

RAD! I'm waiting on my XL, March...

What is the BB size/standard? not finding much on the website. Assuming the headset is ZS44/ZS56.

The weight is not bad at all - my Spitfire in Large w/CCDB, axle, and headset was around 3,9kg

I would go with Fox36, RF finishing kit, hybrid Shimano, ZTR Flow and Hope brakes - i have similar build (Pike, renthal, truvativ - shimano XT gearing, ZTR with hope, hope brakes) and i'm very happy with it.

good luck and enjoy building your new bike!

^^ Thanks! After checking all the LBS within a 10 mile radius, it seems stocks will be hard to come by. I'll probably start with an older set of brakes and 1x10 drivetrain (SLX) just to be able to ride the trails then upgrade when the 2015 inventory catches up (i.e. new XTR).

Leaning towards the Pike, Flows, Truvativ at the moment cause of cost (about US$600 difference). SRAM X1 around here is US$750 so I'll be thinking about that.

It's got your regular tapered headset. Not sure on how to check the BB though (it's threaded).

If you are buying retail you have to buy XTR in Europe the pricing is really really good and some lower than regular retailer whole sale pricing. Check evenscycle and merlin as examples both in the UK. I also got Backcountry.com to price match with the UK shops. Should without a problem be cheaper than $750. I put XTR with XX1 cassette on my Sensor.

Very interesting. I had thought Shimano would've been cheaper here in Asia. Will definitely check it out.

Anybody having issues fitting a chain guide on the Sanction? I can't seem to make the top guide fit on an MRP AMG, there's barely any space between the chainring and the frame.

    Hello,
I have the same frame with same BB and crank.
How many ring gave you on right and left on your BB?
Because I have some alignment problem with my chainguide (MRP AMG).
    Thank you.

    Hey, Jerome!

After removing all the ring spacers on my BB, there was still some rubbing on the inside wall of my AMG's upper guide when I'm on my 42t cog. I just chose to ignore it. A couple of weeks later and I barely notice the rubbing.

Won't the cable snag/hit the rear shock? The seat tube directly stands over the rear shock's stanchion.

I thought I could get an internal seat post to work on my XL frame but the stealth hose attachment was far too long to keep the hose away from the shock. Not sure if I'm going to use a LEV DX 150 or what.

In my country, the Philippines, I know of only 1 other guy outside of myself who has a Sanction, so it does seem that most of the stocks are shipped to the West.

Ironically, the frames are made in Taiwan too.

    Update on the build:

Been through quite a few crashes in the 9 months I've had my Sanction so the bits definitely don't look new anymore but I love her just the same.

Still thinking about a 170mm Lyrik or Fox36, maybe change the rear shock as well. Stocks are hard to come by around here though.

I spoke with PUSH and they are currently waiting for a frame to do their testing on. They said they will have a elevensix shock ready before Feb. It's going to be a game changer on that bike !!

Does anyone know the reach on the large ? I have one and sent an email to GT requesting the # and they haven't gottin back to me

Hey guys im getting ready to buy a 2016 model, hows its ability to climb and well goe for ups and downs on long all day rides? im concerned after reading reviews that say its not the bike for that? Perhaps a Force x would be better suited for everyday riding?

Bike has the 2016 GT Sanction in the test. If you are a cross country guy this is not the bike for you. It's a big long descending beast that can pedal not bad. It's my race bike and I love it. I live in BC and the bike was made for this shit.

If you don't purchase the test you will have to wait till Feb 2 for it to be released

    I have three Questions.
What kind of BB does the Sanction have and will it work with Saint or Zee cranks?
Will it work with 26" wheels?
What is the seat post Diameter?

    Cheers Jo

not sure about the wheels but the BB is a standard threaded 73mm and the seatpost is 31.6mm.

Does anyone have a Fox Float X2 set up for the Sanction they would like to share?

How is sizing on this bike? At 5' 11" would a medium be a good fit? I generally fall between med and large depending on bike manufacturer.

I would say Large. If you look at the GT page over on PB forums there is one owner talking about fit with your height.
