GT Helion standover - crazy high?

Hi All, I'm looking at the GT helion geometry ( non-carbon ) and trying to wrap my head around it.
I'd like to find one to test ride, but the geo has me thinking it would be a waste of time, as i'm 5'8 with inseam of around 30.5 - 31
It seems this bike has incredibly high standover that makes it not very workable for folks under about 5'9.
All three smaller models ( XS, S, Med ) have the same standover at 31".
If I compare to standovers on a Salsa Spearfish I see these comps:
    XS - about 28.2"
    S - about 28.3"
    MED - 29.3"
For additional comparison - a Transition Bandit LARGE standover is 29"

Is there really a 3" difference at the S and 2" difference at MED?
Top Tube measurements are on par with each other...
But I don't want to be cracking my man parts, wishing I had that extra 2-3 inches of standover...

This seems pretty tall to me, the carbon small is even taller @ almost 32.5".

    Are their standover charts wrong?
    Am I missing something here?
Is this bike designed for people with insanely long legs?

Don't forget your toes, I feel you on stand over height I'M 5'4" but 29 inseam. I have always had to try to use the thigh and where the cheek of butt meets , it's muscle memory after 40 years on 26" bike ,It's a whole lot softer on full suspension. I never heard of a small 10speed back in the day just taller ones. Gonna get drop posts for my GT Idrive5 1.0 & daughters XS BMC trailfox I dropped her 140mm fork 10mm with spacer to help her.

Standover should seriously be the last of your considerations when looking at a bike. It's a crap standard anyhow. Look at it like this, if you dismount properly, you can ride bikes with huge standover measurements. But if you've screwed up bad enough to be worried about standover, you're going to hurt no matter what. Find a bike in a shop somewhere and ride it - if it works for you, don't worry about the standover.
