    GT Avalanche 1.0

Performance currently has the v-brake for $550. I rode the 2.0 with the hydraulics brakes at the shop today, I thought it was pretty sweet. but Id be willing to spend a little more on the 1.0. whattadya think?

1.0 is the same frame as the 2.0 but with some better components. Also has a 9 speed cassette versus a 8 speed which is on the 2.0. I guess it comes down to v brakes versus hydraulic discs. The 2.0 w/ mechanical discs I think is $499 minus the 15%.

Go with the Hydraulic. As well as if you have the extra cash and you don't plan on making upgrades go with the 1.0 version. I would stay away from any thing with v-brakes in this price range. disc is the only way to go.

I agree, if you can afford it go with discs. I think the "performance exclusives" v brake versions are leftover parts from previous years or something.

Just prepared to go clipless with the 1.0
