GT 1996-1998 STS-LTS seat post size thread
I hope I can get some help from someone. I've been trying to find out what size seat post will work in my 1997 GT STS. The one that was in it fit fairly snug and is incomplete. Looking for a new one.
When I used a digital caliper on the one I have, it seemed to be anywhere from 26.8 to 27.1
I saw on another forum some said 27.0 which seems like it would be right. I just want to be sure.
I looked at this site;
Sheldon Brown's Seatpost Size Database
But no way my STS is 31.6
Seems like the GT seat post sizes are all over the place.
Maybe this thread could be a reference for all GT's.
Appreciate any info
Figures...a little more digging and found this;
1997 GT STS-DH - BikePedia
being 97 GT would have thought 27.2, have you tried the calliper on the internals of the seat tube.

Nice! I will tonight. I really hope it's a 27.2, a lot more choices than 27.0

Measuring the inside wasn't as accurate as I had hoped. Today I had a mechanical engineer measure the seat post and he was getting 26.9
I'd imagine that either a 26.8, 27.0 or maybe even a 27.2 would fit?
Bottom Bracket question:
Another "problem" I have the bottom bracket, but it's missing the cap (shell) whatever you want to call it.
It's a Shimano BB-M952 (Octalink V1) "BC1.37x24" "L<----116---->R
Is it possible to find the cap, or should just try and find a new one? I'd like to use this one really....super light.
