    BB Help Needed

My BB is finally calling it quits on my Avalanche 3.0 after five years. Iíve been riding this bike since 03í and have never done anything to the BB because Iíve been waiting to upgrade. I have a lot of miles on this stock BB, so I know I have got my moneyís worth out of it. Can anyone tell me what Iím looking for in a BB (ie size/type). Iíve never had the opportunity to play with the BB so I am totally clueless. Thanx in advance...

    BB dimension

for the OEM stock set up you are looking for

    122.5-BC-68MM, C.L.:48.0MM

    122.5 spindle width

    68 mm BB shell width

48 mm chainline (47.5 will work as well)

    hope that helps.

Small problem, I'm in Germany and the LBS's prices are outrageous. I have access to the tools and would like to order online, I just don't know which is best for my ride...

I have to believe that you have tried this place ?

    http://www.fahrrad.de/

I think if you call them they can help you at a very reasonable price....however you will have to buy one or two tools that you will not use for some time....so there is some cost involved when you follow the DIY (do it yourself) path.....

Have you had the cranks off? If you have the tools just whip the cranks off and pull the old one out - they normally have the specs on them.
    My Cannondale Lefty keeps failing....

Thanx for the info...I haven't taken the BB apart because I'm trying to limit my bikes down time...even though my BB has some play in it I would rather keep it together until I have the parts...We are just starting to get into the best time of year to ride here in Germany...But, if I don't fix it soon I won't have a choice but to pull it a part and measure the exsisting BB...I'm just trying to get the part before I pull it apart, It could take up to two weeks before I get the parts...I was hope there was an industry standard for BB's...
