    2001 gt xcr 4000

Ok so I was looking and found a 2001 GT XCR 4000 Full suspension on craigslist for $200. It looks like it's in good shape but, I don't know and couldn't find the specs for this specific bike so I was just wondering if you think $200 is a good deal for this bike or if I should pass on it. I'm not a super knowledgeable person when it comes to buying bikes so I was just hoping for some input.

After looking around online I don't seem to see a 2001 model for this bike however so I'm thinking maybe the guy bought it in 2001 but, it's a 2000 model I'm not sure though. I just thought it seemed like a decent buy. I'm really hoping for some info on the bike before I buy it though.

You should've checked my thread, I started exactly the same thing..

    It's a 99 or 00 bike.
    200 is an "ok" price.
Did you see the bike? Do you have a pic? Is it stock?
If it's stock you could get for 150$-200$ if it's in good shape. Ride the bike and check what's working and what's not. Try to break, change speeds, etc..
If it's in good shape you can pay 200$. If it's in bad shape you should pay 100-150max(MAX).
I'm saying all this presuming the parts are stock.
Then, if you live in US this bike is worth 100-150 at max for any shape i would say (from what'ive seen and checked on the net).
If the bike is in excellent shape I wouldn't mind giving 200$. But as I say it's not worth that much. All the components are crap that you will probably throw to the garbage soon or later. I've had all those stock parts and they are falling apart except the rock shoxx's (very good). The derailleurs are not bad too...(probably worth 10-15 bucks).

Check the frame to see if it has damage very important. And take off the wheels(then put them back) to check if there's something weird. Because when I got my bike the frame was going to the side (it got a hard hit on the rear) and you could only see it when you took off the wheels and realize that the bike's damaged.

Besides, if you have some other questions about it feel free to ask.

Don't spend 200$ on it unless you want to restore/upgrade it or something. Save for a better bike (used but newer at least). The specs are on bikipedia GT XCR 4000 00'. Also, don't forget to check the size of the frame, it might be too small/big for you.
