as long as the dogs dont chase cows!! the rancher dont like the cows to be chase by the dogs. we were hopin the cows would be gone by now but they are not . all we have fir rules is to take all your garbage out with you, close the gate to keep the cows in and have fun. youre welcome to camp and ride any time.

so far all they do with cows is bark from the car window. odus will loose intrest as soon as he gets out but layla's a cattle dog so i may have to keep a eye on her or leave em home.

sounds cool cactus!! at the spring gathering in april we had some riders from kansas and then on sunday a fella from indiana drove up!! its kinda nice to have some new people show the area. i dont know what kind of turn out we will have from the local crowd this fall as i havent seen most of them since spring. they tend to turn into roadies during the summer months and then its just me and a few other dirt lovers out there .

Everybody rides something a little different. Everything from rigid SS 29ers to 5" travel FS. Most folks seem to do just fine on a XC hardtail. Here are some more pics just for fun . . .

That looks like fun! I grew up in Lincoln and used to ride at Wilderness park. I also raced a few times in the Cornhusker State games-but that was almost 10 years ago...

    Hi all,

Just got back into riding after quite a few years. I've been riding Wilderness quite a bit lately, twice this week in fact.

I would love to make it over to L & C, Swanson and Potters Pasture next spring.

Let me know if you hear of any organized rides in the area.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Turkey day ride...

Hey, y'all. I'm thinking of a Turkey Day morning ride at Potter's. Have to get out early as I've got lunch at the in-laws...but a couple hours of saddle time will justify the gluttony to follow. Anyone else?

I'm good for a turkey ride as long as it's early enough that I can be in Kearney by 1:00.

Dang... I know I can't make it out there; I'm in Lincoln and it is too far for me to buzz out there and back in one day. I also have realatives invading from all over the country at my house.

Good luck with the ride and Happy Thanksgiving!

You can ride Kearney's Prairie Trail. We have it all mowed except for about 50 yrds but the trail is still visible in those areas. I would ride with you but i have to work.

Probably not a great idea then?

I went out for an hour spin at Branched Oak this morning. The snow here had gummed things up pretty good. I'm betting with that soil content at the Pasture that any moisture would creat a mud pit. What do you think?

I'm a MTBing n00b here in Omaha. I've been shopping bikes pretty hard here lately. If all goes well I'll be purchasing an 07 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp HT tomorrow.

I'm still thinking about a FS eventually. I might build up a Santa Cruz Superlight later.

Yes! I picked up that 07 Stumpjumper Comp I was shopping in Des Moines. It's in excellent condition and I believe the guy when he said it has less than 50 miles on it. I really couldn't be happier right now. It felt just like the 08 I tested (I couldn't tell the diff between the M4 and M5 frame). They weighed it for me at the shop at 24.10 lbs.

The seat was on his bike rack and got scraped when he went through a drive thru on the way to meet me at the shop (so I got a little better deal than we talked about). :P Looks like I'm going to need a new seat here eventually.

I'm thinking of going with platform pedals to start off on. What do you guys think?

Better pics to come (in the dirt of course)

I'm still thinking I might add a FS bike to my collection later (Santa Cruz Superlight possibly).

    Sweet bike!

Wow! That looks like a great purchase ans who really cares about the seat for a while.

How new are you to riding? I'm sure you grew up riding a bike, but is this really your first new bike in a long time? I made the switch to clipless this year with my new ride and I don't think I will go back to platforms. Another guy from here in lincoln is trying to go clipless around Christmas time. After riding a bike for so long trying to keep you feet on the pedals, it is hard to remember getting them off the pedals when you stop. I've crashed more than a few times, but I'm getting better at it.

We will have to plan a trip up to Omaha to ride sometime. Not that Wilderness Park isn't fun, but just to see something different.

    Talk to you later,

    Rob

I definitely grew up riding. I rode a little throughout the 90's and last year (about this time) I bought a Lemond road bike. I've been riding that (on the platform side of the pedals) for now. My friend kind of got me interested in MTBing and I love it. We'll see. I think the platforms will inspire a little more confidence in my riding.

That would be cool to get a big meet, greet and ride up here with all the Neb lurkers.
