Ada, OK is getting a trail ...

A few of us stuck down here in SE Oklahoma (Ada) have approached the Ada City Council with the idea of construction a muli-use trail on some park land in town. Thumbs up so far! I will be posting more info as we receive it.

We are waiting for the Chickasaw Nation to approve usage of their parking lot.
Once that is a "go", we will have a formal presentation with the Ada City Council.
Hopefully that will all be wrapped up by early February.
When we make our formal presentation we hope to see as many community members at the presentation as possible!

Once it is up and going, we will need a bunch of help "cutting" the trail as well as maintaining it.
We will be following IMBA guidelines for tail design and construction.

    FYI
For now we have a one day a week ride at the Elks Lodge:
Since you live in Ada, might I suggest you come to our Saturday morning rides at the Elks Lodge private trail?
The Elks have a "members only" policy but some of the our riders are Elks Club members so we ride as "guests" on Saturdays.

The Ada trail is a little behind. I think the communication between the city and the Chickisaw tribe has been a little slow. The trial is land locked by tribal land and i think thats whats been a little problem. It is still going to get done though.

Watup Shane. The ball is in the city's court right now. The Ada city council is supposed to officially approve moving forward on developing the trail and communicating with the Chickasaw Nation about accessing the trail via a parking lot on their land.

We're trying to be patient with the process.

In case anyone is around Ada, check out the local group and the weekly rides. We have mtb rides on a local private trail.

    Here's the local club website

It is held up in court from I heard over on the OEF website. Saturday mornings the Elks club in Ada rides their private trail. You can ride with them but you have to go with a member. Head over to the OEF website and look up this same topic and ask for one of the members to take you on a ride.

I'll be there at 9am on Sat. I'm also going this afternoon around 3:30. Anyone is welcome to join in. Most of the trails are in great condition. Hope to see you out there.
