New question here. TopoFusion Max Speed

I was looking through the help section of the TopoFusion website, and I may have just missed this answer... so if anyone can answer or point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

How is the Max Speed calculated when compared to the Speed Profile?

I loaded in data from a recent ride and the Max Speed category said 44.6mph. When I click on the profile for the track and set the chart to Distance x Speed, I can't see that ~44mph anywhere. The highest on the speed profile is closer to 30mph. Is the 30mph a more reliable number, or has it been smoothed out (similar to what Garmin Connect does, I believe) - making the 44mph accurate for a single measurement (point to point) while the 30mph is more reflective of a moving average?

Any insight on this would be appreciated.

the developer of Topofusion would be a better person to ask than the rest of us. he pops in here from time to time, but you'd get an answer from him more quickly if you posted on the topofusion forums.
