Sticking with the iPhone...
M7 "Motion co-processor" on the iPhone 5s should help with battery consumption of GPS apps. I ordered up one for the heck of it. The used iPhone market still amazes me. I made $400 when I sold my 3gs, ~$200 when I sold my 4 and will break even or do a little better selling my 5 (that is not eligible for a discounted upgrade).
Another very cool option I am keeping an eye on is Wahoo's BT 4.0 ANT+/RFLKT+ remote for iPhones.

I have the Iphone 5. MTBR seems to crawl after the IOS 7 update. Have you found that to be the case?
The resale is a nice bonus
I haven't upgraded either my iPhone or iPad to IOS 7 yet. I use Tapatalk on them to read MTBR forums for the most part...

My ipad2 flies on mtbr.com after the ios7 update, even with a cell modem.
So far so good.
Yeah, I had an Android phone and kinda hated how buggy it was, and then they sunsetted support on it when it was only 9 months old. Sprint let me (or really, my company) switch to an iPhone 4s and it's been golden ever since. I did have the power button issue, but Apple was nice enough to take care of me out of warranty. I can't imagine switching back.
