    Oregon 450 Map Questions

I currently have a Garmin 500 that I use for road and mountain biking. I plan on getting a Garmin Oregon 450 for hiking and snowshoeing, but also to bring along (in a pocket or Camelbak) on bike rides for when I explore new areas. (I'll continue to use the 500 to track my bike stats).

I'm looking for suggestions on what maps to load/buy. My initial thoughts were to get the Garmin Topo 24k for my region, along with the Birdseye satellite images. I figure those two should be sufficient to get me back to civilization.

Also, is it correct that the Oregon 450 will give me the ability to backtrack on the same route I came in on?
