    newbie bike (mtb) gps advice...

I'd like to purchase a gps to take in the woods with me. Would be nice to be able to load others' topos (such as maps from switchbacks dot com, for example) and create my own. We use mac computers at home if that matters... Seems like lots of folks are using the garmin 305...any other recommendos?
Taking it easy for all you sinners.
