New question here. HRM Help: iPhone 5s and/or Wrist Display?

Been using an older HRM that displays on a wristwatch. Works fine. I'm also tracking gps routes on an iPhone 4, kept in my pocket for protection. This works fine as well.

However, the Siren's Song of Technology keeps whispering in my ear. I'm considering joining the modern world of integrated HRM tracking tied to gps routes (using an iPhone 5s). I realize that I'll need to see the smartphone while riding to get HRM info -- but I'm worried about breaking/ruining the phone during a crash or rainstorm.

    Hmmmm... Some questions:

    1. Can a bluetooth HRM strap simultaneously broadcast to BOTH a simple wrist display AND an iPhone 5s (in one's pocket)?

    2. If YES, any suggestions for a simple/cheap wrist or handlebar display?

    3. If NO, suggestions for a dry and rugged iPhone 5s handlebar or stem mount that doesn't rattle?

    4. Having a hard time finding info on replaceable batteries (which seems key) for bluetooth HRM straps. Got a recommendation on a brand to go with?

    Many thanks!

Wahoo Fitness - RFLKT Bike Computer- Bike Computer for iPhone

Here's a pretty good solution. And yes, HR strap will go to different devices as long as it's all compatitable (ant+, BT)

Many thanks for the insights. RFLKT seems like a sweet solution!

(btw: I posted a similar response a few days ago, but don't see it now!)

The Wahoo HR sensors also have easily replacement batteries..

I originally started using the Wahoo setup for my iphone 4 but chose to go with the ANT+ system because I eventually wanted to go Garmin.

I did eventually buy a Garmin and can still use all my Wahoo ANT+ sensors with it.

edited to add: this monitor came out recently and if I was jsut starting out, this is the route id go..
