Upload it to Strava - you can edit out the beginning.

Do you not have a program on your computer that can edit these files? If you use a GPS, you should have a program on your computer for managing and analyzing said files. Web sites are not always the answer. In this case, however, some websites give you the ability to edit them, too.

D/L a gpx editor but didn't have any luck. I'm also on Garmin connect and Strava but no luck there.

I just use notepad on Windows to open the gpx files and trim/combine them all the time. It appears as a whole series times and lat/long coords points. Copy the file first as a backup if you're not sure what you are doing. Upload the original file to the web, find the time stamp at the point where the bike ride begins, open a copy in notepad and delete all the points before that timepoint.
