    Good program/software of Garmin 305

    Hey there,
A long time customer of ours who always has to have the latest stuff bought a Garmin 705 and ended up giving me his 305 complete with HR and cadence.
What third party software/programs do you guys recommend?
I heard Ascent is a good one

    Thanks

Mac or PC based? You mention Ascent, I think it is Mac, and not in my area of expertise. If you need PC, I have strong recommendations, depending on what you want to get from the data - fitness? / heart rate data? / distance and climbing logging? / routing & trail mapping?

What you running for a computer, and what do you want to achieve with the GPS data?

From what I understand, reading the 705 threads here (and there are quite a few), the data is transferred in a different format than the 305, and you are quite limited in currently available software. Browse the GPS forum here and see what others say, or jump into one of the many 705 threads that are talking about data. Good luck browsing.

Thanks Slo - Did not realize I was taking the thread in a new direction - assumed the 305/705 would be able to use the same tools. So far I'm happy with the free-bee on Garmin site but always like to try out new warez.

I have a pc, windows xp. The only important things that I care about is that I am able to review what my heart rate was at different locations and the ability to overlap it onto a map, i.e. google maps
    Thanks

Garmin Training Center will do that.

A much more powerful program for fitness analysis is SportTracks.

I use both of the programs that slocaus recommended. They each have a feature that I like. SportTracks does the Google Earth stuff that's fun to share with the other guys on the ride. Nice gift.

    Good luck.
