Garmin Edge Off Course Warning Question
So today I tried the courses feature on my Edge 500. I got a few off course warning and wasn't sure what to do because I was on course. When it was all said and done it said I beat my time by 11 minutes which was suspicious. When I got home and uploaded it I was only a 1:30 ahead.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this or anything I can do to correct it?
I have autopause on and it triggered a couple of times on some tight switchbacks. Could that have caused it?

There is a always some slack with my Garmin's interpretation of where a course begins (and ends) when I compare afterwards (i.e. with Strava), which manifests itself in a lot of alarm tones while riding a course with with virtual partner... I always start off between 4 and 10 seconds behind for some reason. And I get strange off-course warnings as well, even on straight road sections sometimes. On a twisty trail I think mine would be FUBAR. I' have a 500, although when I used an 800 I had the same thing happen.
I'd disable auto-pause and consider adding a wheel magnet if you don't have one already, but I don't think it's ever gonna work perfectly in this application.

I never had autopause kick in improperly on my Edge 305. However, i do get the off course warning. Typically its because I made the course with smart recording on. When making a course, I leave smart recording off and opt for the faster more consistent sampling rate.

Garmin Edge Off Course Warning Question
Thanks. I'll try without the smart record.
