Edge 305 Energy Saver & Asus ee compatibility?

Does the Garmin Edge 305 have an energy saver mode? I want to use it for touring several hours a day.

Finally, does anybody know if the Garmin drivers will work with the little Asus ultra portable computers?

Info is greatly appreciated - thanks.

If I recall, those little ASUS jobs use Linux. I'm pretty sure you can make the garmin usb connection work, but it may take some tweaking. I don't think garmin has any linux drivers available, but there are some floating around on the web. I use Ubuntu, and it will connect to my 76CSx with the QGIS GPS console function. QGIS is probably a bigger program than you'd want to install on an eee, but I don't know if there are any other GPS apps available.
