Bushnell Backtrack
Has anyone used the Bushnell Backtrack?
I'm not a GPS person. After reading about this, I thought it would come in handy when I'll riding in new areas. Mark your car, ride for a while, then hit home and it shows which direction to go.
I know people have gotten lost or turned around or disoriented.
Admit it.

Have you considered the fact that it would be pointing you in a completely wrong direction to get back to your car in a scenario where you've followed a U-shaped (or similarly contorted) path to get to where you are?
It seems like that thing was meant to be useful only when you're already back in the vicinity of your car (perhaps within a quarter mile?) but merely need a final pointer to the exact spot, as opposed to "finding your way back" from a long ride where you lost your way. The "right way" to return to your car from where you happen to be may be leading in a completely different direction from the straight-line direction to the location of your car.
Also, why spend $50 on that thing when you can buy an honest-to-goodness GPS for the same amount or less if you buy secondhand?

Bushnell has a pretty piss-poor record on their GPS receivers. They were recently blowing out a model that offered raster maps and XM weather for about $50 because they were POS electronics and nobody was buying them.
You're seriously better off looking for a used eTrex (though at least get one with USB). They have the same functionality plus way more.
