    Bluetooth HR transmitter reception

I'm considering using my Galaxy S3 and an app such as Endomondo or Strava etc with a Polar wearlink + with bluetooth HR monitor.

I read on an amazon review page that if ones receiver/cell is in your backpack that the wearlink will not be detected due to interfering body mass,

    Is this true?

Also, I have been using a Garmin FR305 for gps tracking and hr monitoring for a couple of years now. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to using my S3 vs the FR305?? (other than dropping the 305's weight off the bike as I always have the cell on my back)

I considered getting a Garmin 500, but it seems the only thing it could do that either of the aforementioned opitons couldn't would be speed/cadence/odo sensor. I am resally tired of manually correcting for mileage too. Sure would be nice if either the 305 or S3 would detect wheel speed and save me $250...
