    Trance x1 2011

I have a santa cruz blur lt 2007 and it is time to replace it. I hate the creaking and pedal feedback. I have ridden the new trance 29ers and a trance 27.5. I am mostly an xc rider but i love rocky technical singletrack. No parks or lifts.
What do people think of the old trance 26 models? Am i missing out hugely by buying an older trance than saving for a new one? Anything to watch out for on a 2011 model?

    Thanks in advance.

    Joe

I have an 11' X1 and have had it for about 2 years now without any issues. I know that Giant finally slackened out the HA on the new models to 67 from 69.5, and went with .5" more travel front and rear. But in the end I haven't had any issues going down some rocky technical singletrack. Some might find the HA too steep for a trail bike, but honestly I don't notice it going down some steep descents, while others might. You might like the 11' with a steeper HA and quicker steering as it suits most XC riders.

Have you ridden an 11' by chance?

I have a 12 x4 with 26" wheels and love it, I demoed a few bikes when I decided the revel 0 29er was holding me back. I love how much easier it climbs and turns over the 29ers I demoed including the trance x. I maybe sold on a 27.5 when the next demo day comes around but whos to say. Its snappy enough for fast xc type single track but it comes alive on rough rocky steep single track. Only thing about the bike I don't like is the gaint dropper post, Its broke more then not. I demoed a lot of bikes and the only other bike I considered was a 26" stumpjumper but me being new I couldn't justify the price difference.

    Trance x1 2011

I've had an '11 X1 since new and it's been fantastic. Faultless, in fact.

I ride some reasonably technical trails and haven't found its held me back.

I find it a lot more fun to ride than Mrs Bloodpuddle's Anthem 29er. Its definitely easier to climb on than my friend's 2008 reign.

    I haven't ridden a trance 29er or 27.5.

Mine's now running 1x10 and is a great all-round trail bike. I recently picked up a light 29er HT for racing, but the trance is still my go to bike for general riding.

If you can get one for a good price (and you should be able to given its age and unfashionable wheel size), then it's a great option.

Thanks everyone. I ended up buying the barely ridden 2011 x 1 for 1900. I have ridden it twice and the suspension is definitely plush compared to my blur lt. So far i am having lots of fun.
I think i appreciate the steeper head angle. When i demo'd the new 27.5 and 29 i liked the way the 27.5 descended on jumps and slow tech compared to the 29 but the 27.5 felt like a slug climbing. I think i am getting both with this 26.
