I'm with joncy, I swapped from the F120 stocker to a float 140 and the bike handles much better like it was made for it. Have since almost dropped the Anthem and ride trance exclusively.

Guacamole a couple of days ago in Virgin.

It was almost like the trail was made for the bike.

One of the complaints about the Trance X 29er is that the switch on the ctd schock is hard to reach and change while on the bike. It is so easy to flip this switch around so the handle points up just use a an alan wrench loosen, turn it around, and tighting it back up. I dont know why giant/fox didnt do this to begin with. its still a long reach down there but it helps.

Stripped the paint on my '11 x3 frame and wheels (i previously painted the wheels white). then polished the frame. Also replaced all suspension bearings and the needle eye bearing with new from RWC.

Thanks man. Those pics were taken after one round of polish, I've since done a second and it looks even better. I like the silver/black combo better than the old blue/white for sure. Looks more like a machine now, if that makes sense. It was a lot more work than I thought though, you'd be surprised how thick the paint is on the head tube and down tube.

I have access to a bead blaster, would that be easier than stripper you think?

I would think so, as long as the frame is completely disassembled. I went through 3 cans of "airplane" stripper, and that stuff ran everywhere. I also didn't remove the bearings, which is why replaced them.

There's a thread on here called "let me see your polished aluminum" or something like that, which gave me a lot of info.

    My 2011 X2

Just felt like I should post a few pics here because after three years of amazing rides I'm going to be moving on to a new rig. Here she is at the top of the 401 trail in Crested Butte, top of Kenosha pass on the colorado trail, and in her final build with the 140mm fork.

    Upgrades:

    Thomson X4 50mm stem.
Raceface Atlas bar cut to 760 width.
    Thomson elite seatpost.
Hand built Stans Flow's laced to Hope pro evo2 hubs.
Continental Mountain Kings. (2.4 front/2.2 rear.)
    Fox 140mm float F.I.T. fork.
(If you have a 26" trance I highly recommend the 140mm fork upgrade if you don't have one. It really makes a massive improvement on the downhill with a microscopic penalty on the climbs.)
