'11 X2 extra large I've added some stuff...

still want a bigger fork and heavier duty wheels for *those* kinda days...
think I want a bigger travel bike though and keep my Trance how it is.

Love this thing and not sure I can give it up!

The red one is the first one i picked up off of CL, sold it the next day for $200 more and then bought the X4.

New question here. Which Upgrades should I make. Need or Want....

    Hi All.

I am the proud owner of a 2012 Giant Trance X4. Only a few basic mods to date.Nukeproof 760mm riser bars, 60mm stem. Nukeproof Seatpost and Shimano DX Pedals...

Figured i'd wait till things start to break before starting to upgrade core components... I regularly hammer it round the UK trail centres (Red & black routes) and rode London to Paris off road a few weeks back and the bike was awesome, it didnt put a foot wrong.

    A few questions....
    What should I upgrade 1st? Wheels | Forks | Brakes | Groupset....
I like the look of the FOX Float FIT 150mm forks, will the bike take these or should I go for 140's?
When pushing the bike hard the stock wheels seem a little flimsy, have heard tyre on fork a few times when pushing hard into corners...Trance X Pics Thread...-img_3333.jpgTrance X Pics Thread...-img_0792.jpgTrance X Pics Thread...-img_1607.jpg

    All ideas | thoughts welcome...

When I bought my 2011 X1 the first thing I noticed was the steep head angle. I entended the fork to 140 and put an offset bushing in the shock. Next was a clutch rear derailleur for the noise reduction. After that it's whatever makes you faster/happier!

    Giant Trance

you have very nice bike. was it original Giant Trance X2 2011? I have this bike as well , bought it a week ago in Germany - it was incredible that after 2 years they still had this model. i am just thinking to swap breaks from Elixir R to Shimano XT because i have heard that XT has more braking power but i have found out that i have to use only original Shimano hose that is available only in black or white collor , no blue.

    Thanks
    regards
    Laco

I think that was directed at me? Anyhow, get jagwire hose and they have shimano adapters. I bought slx brakes and immediately replaced the black hose with blue jagwire

thansk for the reply, are you satisfied with this hose "Jagwire"? couple of guys told me that Shimano doesnt work properly (less braking power) if you do not use original Shimano hose. Ohh!! thanks

Here is my 2013 Trance X2. I did a few changes/upgrades: XT brakes and rotors, I-Spec XT shifters, XT cranks, Reverb seat post, converted to 2x10 with the 2x9 SLX chainrings (22x36) and installed a blue BBG Bashguard to the big ring's place.

Considering a 2012 X3. Does anyone know if the stock S-XC2 wheels can be set up tubeless? Has anyone actually run them tubeless? I figure it should work.

I currently have the 29er version of the S-XC2 on my XTC. I've been running them tubeless without any issues.

I would start from fork, even before old one breaks.. then, brakes -- you will go a lot faster with new fork

I thought they go all 27,5 with the Trance for 2014 but it seems I just misread.

    Trance X Pics Thread...

2008 Trance X2......(One of my 3 mountain bikes) Just 12 miles away from rolling 5,000 mile on the ODO. Still has the original pivot bushings, fork and shock, headset, Hayes brakes ( they have been re built by Hayes) everything else has been upgraded and replaced. Still going strong and a blast to ride.

Future plans include a 140 mm Fox CTD fork and a Push re build for the shock. It has been replaced by a couple of 29ers but still fun to take out and thrash a few times a month!

The best thing about this bike has always been the black anodized frame IMO, it has some rock dents and wear marks but otherwise still looks as good as the day I purchased it.......For the rare moment that it is clean!

Giant.......If you are listening BRING BACK THE ANODIZED FRAME!
