    Hey Everyone,

Here is my 2012 Trance X1. I have done a number of mods. To date they are: float 140mm, haven bar, haven carbon wheels, DMR vault pedals, reverb. Loving it and am doing BC bike race with my wife this year so hopefully everything holds up!

Here is my wife's bike, 2013 Trance X1 29'er, stock except we replaced the stock brakes with new XT's!

Well .01% of the time you'll wish you had the other rings!

But seriously 1x is fine, the only thing you need to worry about is chain retention. I tried to make my buddy's MRP 1x fit when I went without much luck (that guide has some serious design flaws IMO), but eventually just used the front derailleur and reminded myself not to shift. Not Ideal, I know. But it worked OK and I liked 1x9 OK. Went back to 2x9 when I moved to a place that deserved a granny ring.

The pros, of course, are lighter weight, more simplicity, and maaaybe marginally better shifting in the rear (since you're always in the middle ring and there's less chain slack for the derailleur to take up)

That, is a good looking bike. White linkage and cables look good on this. Also looks a little choppered out, nice.

This is my 2012 Trance X. Kind of totally customized.

Replaced the Float Fork to a 110-130-150mm Talas(a few weeks ago I sent it in because there was a cracking noise in the crown section and the connection between stanchions and crown was defect, so they swapped the whole unit to Kashima stanchions)

    - Fox Float RP2
    - Shimano XT Crank
    - Shimano XT Pedals
    - Shimano XT Derailleur
    - Giant Contact Switch Dropper Seatpost
    - Syntace Superforce 75mm stem
    - Veltec AM One Wheelset

    Overall weight 12,9kg

    Giant Trance X 29

    Trance X Pics Thread...-giant-trance-cm.jpgTrance X Pics Thread...-giant-trance-2-cm.jpg

Now that the weather has cleared up i have been able to put some time in on the new bike.

All said and done she's weighing in at 25 pounds 11 ounces.

Amazing bike, and after demo'ing/riding many 29ers and new 650b's I have no regrets.

    Built kit includes:
Full XX1 groupset w/ 32 tooth front sproket
    Mavic Wheels
    Easton XC70 carbon post
    Fizik Tundra saddle
    Fox Talas CTD 140
Race face Turbine stem and SixC bars

Working on what pedals to go with now.

I new that she would descend well but was pleasantly surprised at how well it climbs. The XX1 is quiet and smooth but needs some getting used to when climbing (requires steady momentum and cadence, especially on longer climbs).

All in all an amazing set up and glad I built it as is.

Just replaced the big ring with a 32t Raceface bashguard and installed blingy DMR Vaults. Running tubeless Hans Dampf too...

The bottom bracket is a bb30 with the Xt cranks. It's a race face (32t)chainring that I picked up at jensonusa I believe.

Check out the mrp x1 seat post mount. I picked up a single unramped chain ring and placed in middle position because I have a triple ring crankset. Did not have to use any spacers (included) and set up was extremely simple. The guide cost about $99 but look around and do price match it saved my $15.

    Good luck bro

Btw. You van use your current middle ring to save money. The mrp should set you back approx 85-90 bucks.

Hi I have a giant trance xo and I would love to make these upgrades! Would be much appreciated if you could tell me what size shock you fitted? I read in the owners manuals that the float shock that it comes with is 7.25in. I can't seem to find a coil one that size so am wondering how you got yours?
And what kind stem you are running because I've been looking every where for a short stem?

    thanks

I just put a 50 mm raceface atlas stem on my '09 x3 to replace the stock 100mm. Feels so much more controlled now in combo with my 785mm bars. I'm 6' and riding a medium but I like the feel of a more compact bike.

I'll be posting pics soon seeing as this is the trace x pic. thread.

yeah Im 6' myself but I made the mistake of going with what the guy at the shop said and buying a large frame. They didnt have the bike in the shop so thought they'd know best, but WRONG. I love a smaller size myself, easier to throw around and more confidence inspiring. I paid way too much for it so im going to keep it and just do what you've done to yours.

Back to that stem, the reason I asked is because of the OD2 that giant has going and wasn't sure what after market ones would fit
