    I must disagree with you on that. I personally would not choose that TX 0 build of the two, because If I did, I would have to replace all that Fox suspension with the RS. Everything else is really about cutting a tiny bit of weight, except the wheels, the wheels are a nice touch. However the P-XC29 wheels on the "Womans" are not bad, about the same weight as my hand built pacenti's that I paid another $800 for... But for the price you could get the "W" version and put an even nicer set of carbon hoops on and still save money... Thats what Id do... Ya know... If I was a woman and all

    Any mention of AX29 in this thread is just ridiculous. Lets just remember that THIS bike, TX29, is a TRAIL bike not an XC race bike,
    So I can now say, after riding my new TX29 0 for the first time today, you all need to pull your heads in and just go ride one before you continued sprouting all the crap about how good or bad this bike is.
    Ive come off a TX26 2, never thought that there was a huge difference between 26 and 29" wheels. I WAS wrong. This bike does everything that Giant claims and more. The comments of "cheating" are true, it truly is unbelievably fast and nimble. Acceleration out of corners is something i have NEVER felt before. Gear ratios are spot on too. I rode a mix of sigletrack and fire road today and only once a steep pinch climb did i need the 24t front ring. 38t was plenty of torque to dig me out of the tight turns. Oh and another thing, all this talk about the front wheel lift is crap, utter crap. i havent even dropped the stem and not once did the front wheel lift on a climb today.

    For the record I am 6'2", 120kgs and riding a L with a 70mm stem.

    Front wheel lift on a 29er is just poor riding technique. Just my two cents. I never lift either.

    since you're solid in clyde territory, what's your opinion about the stiffness of the frame?
    is there any flex somewhere?

    i rode it!

    my LBS only had a medium, but i wanted to go down and see it and sit on it anyway. it looks so much better in person, and much uglier on screen. (X0). in real life, its a very shiny polished look, and the lines in the frame are very nice.

    1. Medium is 2 sizes bigger than i would ride, but it still didnt feel THAT long. Most likely because i'm short, so i dropped the seat down lower than normal, which made the front end really high. Still, my arms werent even totally locked. i could see if you raised the seat well over the bars, you may feel stretched.

    2. bars feel freakishly wide. then again, i always trim mine

    3. rides/shifts very nice! even though the suspension was set up too stiff for me, i still took it on some gravel path, rode over a waterbar "log", then down a steep, semi-rocky short descent. Super stable.

    4. steered fine as far as i could tell. even the guys at my shop who are die-hard 26ers, were very impressed by it. they said "finally a 29er that doesnt feel like ****!"

    5. dropper post worked fine for me. i know some poeple have issues, but it worked perfect.

    I only had wheel lift problems on stuff that's in the 20-30% grade range, where you're lucky to be able to pedal in the 24-36 gear ratio. Now that I've compensated for it by removing a few spacers and shifting a bit more, it's not bad at all. Still not as easy as the Anthem, but getting there. It's a tradeoff for a 120 up front instead of a 100.

    Did one of the tougher trails around today, and it felt great to ride, though I somehow managed to switch the fork to climb during the ride and not notice til near the end. Explained a few pinging issues on the big rocks.

    Yeah, I didn't feel the need to reply to him as he obviously doesn't have enough experience to really know what he was saying, so its all good long as were all ridin and having fun

    As to the difference between the AX and TX29er is not much at all. A few slight geo changes but same overall platform. The AX is not a "race bike" and TX a "Trail only" they both can be setup as either. A 120mm fork on an Anthem makes a great "trail bike" as you mentioned

    For anyone reading that doesn't really understand the difference in Geo between the two here it is. HT angle is (a bit) slacker on TX making is slower up front but more stable on down hills. Chain Stays on the TX have been shortened I believe its .4 of an inch, which means the TX will have a slightly more maneuverable rear end on switchbacks and when lofting the front end for manual'ing. ST angle effects rider position in relation to BB and works with TT length to create the reach of the cockpit. Oh and of course the TX gets 1 more inch of sus travel, this ones easy, makes it more comfy of the rough stuff

    The comments on wheel lift aren't reasonable for all riders. I ride a Trance 26" in a small frame which essentially is the best size frame for me. My stand-over however, is very low. With the seat height set to maximum (for me), the stock handlebars are a good 2" above the seat height. I was finding even with better climbing technique it wasn't enough to compensate for the propensity for wheel lift. Reversing all stem spacers has done wonders. Would've been pretty dumb to have left them stock in my case. I also had to do this on a 29er I owner for a while ago as well, and would expect to for future bikes. I wont be getting a TX29, but riders with small stand-over will almost certainly want to make at least minor adjustments.

    Looks great. But I certainly hope you don't have to drop your seat at all. That cable will rub on the back tire bad.

    I haven't decided if I'm going to keep the dropper yet but while test riding I don't recall it rubbing against the tire. The cable is long enought to rub up against the tire but where it is positioned it won't rub.

    The shop should have trimmed that dropper cable. Its WAY too long. Take it back and get them to cut it. never should have left the shop like that. Seriously.

    Just picked up X2 size X/l. Now after reading through all these posts, I'm having second thoughts on frame size. Pretty new to MTBing and have just spent a year learning on a Rockhopper 29er X/L and really enjoyed it.
    I've wanted a F/S and narrowed it down to Trance and Camber. Settled on Trance and test rode several times, both L. And X/L. The sales guy even rode with me. I felt better on the X/L, and he felt it looked better on me. Long story short, I got X/L and am really excited to go rip some trails in the morning.
    I'm 6'3" average legs, long torso.
    This forum rocks, you guys, and Gals are a wealth of info and I appreciate learning from you. Just don't want to keep second guessing myself.

    I agree. You pay $4k for a bike, the bike should have all cables internally routed and the dropper cable cut to the size of the bike.

    Quite noticeably, there is a huge difference between the flex from the TX26 to the TX29. The rear end is stiffer laterally and overall the bike feel stronger under me.

    This is my first time on full XT so the components are still over my head performance wise.

    Yes, I agree and the shop owner mentioned that also. He didn't get a chance to do it because I ordered it and they built it as soon as they got it so they didn't have it long enough for them to realize how long that cable was before I picked it up. But he said when I bring it back in for adjustments and stuff he will adjust the cable length then. But it's not an issue right now.

    I found the F120 29" noticeably flexy compared to the F100 29" . You loose accuracy and the front becomes a bit vague.

    But saying that , my Ax 29er, with it's shorter tapered head tube, is much stiffer up front than my 09 TX 26.

    Picked up an x1 on Friday. Only one ride so far, but I love it. Had to take it back to my LBS to get the cables rerouted. They did not set it up with the internal cabling. They do not like internal cabling, but I asked them to redo it anyway. Otherwise-- pretty happy

    Well for what its worth, (and probably not much as I'm a noobie) I LOVE this bike!!

    Been out riding for two days now on the trails of South mtn, Az. Just getting to know the bike and make some minor adjustments.

    Its fast, and climbs like crazy. Since this is my first full suspension, I can only compare it to a few brief rides on friends bikes.

    It does feel lighter in the front end when climbing, but never in a bad way? I can lift it when I need to. I will wait for more saddle time, before making any stem adjustments.

    I really really love the suspension, it is so comfortable, and inspires confidence, but maybe beyond my skill levels.

    And at the end of my rides I don't feel beat up and have a smile on my face.

    All the time.

    Probably one of the best upgrades on the later models. The maestro bikes suffer terrible chain slap behind the BB.
    I upgraded both mine with ZEE shadow plus rear derailleurs.

    One of my favorite aspects of the bike. It is nearly as quiet as my SS. Between the Shadow Plus der. and the XT brakes, I am loving the Shimano stuff. I have ridden SRAM exclusively for about 6 years.

    I'm a little concerned about the sizing. I am a tad taller than 6ft and ordered a medium (18). The the Large (20) seemed just a little big to me and the Medium seemed a little tiny bit small. I think I'll be happy with a Medium, I just wanted to check with the masses for a second opinion. My lbs only has a small and won't get another one in until mine shows up so I wasn't able to test any other sizes.

    Any feed back will be appreciated!

    Well, I hate to worry you but I'm only 5'7" with 30" inseam and my medium X0 fit me fine.

    I just picked up my X2 medium this afternoon. I had been on a small revel and I felt less stretched on the 29er. It actually confused me after following this thread since it opened. (the revel had seat all the way back, trance 29 seat just in front of center). I'm 5'10" and I think I have a 31.5" inseam.
    My first opinion is that this bike is much faster than what I'm used to.

    I picked up my large X0 yesterday and took it out for its first ride this morning. When I 1st climbed on I became worried about my decision to go with a large just because I seemed so far from the ground, even compared to my XTC2. I ended up dropping the seatpost into the seat tube a little. Riding this morning put all my fears to rest. The large is definitely is the right size. I'll need to move the seat up a bit again as with the seat fully extended I needed it a little higher for climbing.

    I love this bike already. The dropper seat post is great. I can see that I'll be using the dropper fairly often. Coming from Avid elixir 7 brakes on my HT to the XT on this: WOW!. I was riding in fairly wet conditions this morning, mix of dirt paths and roads. Brakes worked flawlessly and so quiet. The Avid brakes in comparison were really noisy in the wet last time I rode.

    I did a few small climbs this morning and didn't need to change from the big ring at all. As others mentioned, shifting is really smooth and almost silent.
    Can't wait to get this bike out onto some decent trails.

    I'm a little concerned about the sizing. I am a tad taller than 6ft and ordered a medium (18). The the Large (20) seemed just a little big to me and the Medium seemed a little tiny bit small. I think I'll be happy with a Medium, I just wanted to check with the masses for a second opinion. My lbs only has a small and won't get another one in until mine shows up so I wasn't able to test any other sizes.

    Any feed back will be appreciated!
    I just picked up my medium X0 29er and I am 5'9" with a 30" inseam. I was a little nervous about the sizing after ordering and now can say I am thrilled with the fit after riding it. I am coming from a 26er (Scott Spark) and found no awkwardness riding this 29er. I have not had a chance to ride trails, but I most likely will be taking out a few spacers or flipping the stem. I think what folks are saying about the bike feeling big has more to do with the wide handlebars than anything else. My previous bike had narrow bars, so when I first rode this bike the bars felt huge. I have gone back and forth over the years with wide and narrow bars and think I prefer a wider bar - time will tell. Hopefully will be hitting some trails this upcoming weekend.

    It's not your inseam you need to be worried about (you can always just raise or lower your seatpost), it's your top tube length. What's the top tube length on the bike you're the most comfortable on? That should give you a good idea how close you are to ordering the correct bike. I have a friend who rides the same frame size I do but he's 4 inches shorter then me but he has a long torso. So you never know until you know that top tube length... For me it's 23.5 inches. Anything close to that and I'm golden and can make a few small changes to make it fit (seat, stem, seatpost, etc).

    I did a few small climbs this morning and didn't need to change from the big ring at all. As others mentioned, shifting is really smooth and almost silent.
    Can't wait to get this bike out onto some decent trails.

    Question for the lucky ones who have their TX29. What it the minimum seatpost lenght that needs to be inside the frame. I am trying to decide if I can get away with a Large frames size instead of the XL. Thanks

    I was wondering what max markings are on the trance seatpost. A reverb has a limit of 80mm but some manufacturers will spec a limit of 100mm or even 120mm. Using less post in the frame could void the warranty?

    PXC are easily converted to tubeless - many have done the ghetto method - i bought the Stans rimstrips (not the tape) as recommended - the "flow" rim strip - and within 30 mins had both wheels mounted with a handpump

    used em for almost 3 mos before I added another shot of sealant - and rarely added air

    tires were panaracer 2.35 rampage frt, maxxis 2.25 ardent rear

    Thanks Z4. Looks like even using my reverb 420mm post if I need 120mm of seatpost inside the frame, XL is the only option to me.

    100mm minimum in the manual for the seat post that came with my L trance x 29er.

    Cheers. Went for a spin on a medium X1 tonight - extended steep climb, rock gardens, fast & twisty downs. Moved all the spacers above the stem, (but didn't flip it), which improved the handling hugely. Felt really good for a 29er, I'm impressed. Seemed to fall between my RX and TX 26rs in terms of handling. A Fox 34, flat bar, straight-post and a shorter flipped stem would complete the package nicely.

    Don't know if I missed something, but that stem won't fit the Trance X 29's Overdrive steerer. They are 1 1/4" not 1 1/8". Just a heads up.

    Trance 2 has OD 1 1/8 upper. 1 1/2 lower. Verified on their spec sheet and LBS.

    Just got my large X1 last night. It came with a 90mm stem. My experience with sizing is that Giant got this bike pretty well dead on. I'm 6'1" and 210, and ride Large on any bike. I dropped the stem and swapped 15mm of spacers to the top, and that's about it. All the hand wringing over sizing seems a little out of control to me.

    It rode great, very fast. I rode with the front and rear shocks in "trail" the entire time and didn't feel like I was losing much effort to bobbing, etc. 5" of travel makes a world of difference!

    Get one, fast as you can get it ordered and shipped in!

    I live in Florida! I could leave it in "Climb" if I wanted. I do leave mine in the Trail mode. I will have to wait until my next trip to the mountains to test the Descend mode.

    Apparently the difference is the fork's steerer and the top bearing of the headset. The head tube/ frame is unchanged between build kits

    Agreed.. It does give a better choice for stems, until they ramp up production for the larger size.

    I think you'll be fine. Note that it says it doesn't do one feature of each of those as well as specific bikes. It's a very nice all-rounder, in my opinion. Also, I feel that it takes a bit more setup on the suspension to get it perfect for your riding style, but once you do, it performs extremely well. Also, if you got a complete bike, make sure to lose some of the spacers if it comes with a huge stack like most I've seen.

    I finally got a chance to ride my new XO on some trails today and was very impressed. My most recent mountain bike was a Scott Spark and I had never ridden a 29er prior to this XO. I don't know if it is the larger wheels or suspension or a combination of both, but this bike handles the roots and climbs better than any other mountain bike I have ridden. I was surprised at how quickly I became comfortable handling this bike on the trails since I was coming from a 26er. I am 5'9" and bought a medium and find the sizing perfect. My Spark weighed about 5lbs less, but I definitely prefer the Maestro suspension even with the added weight. I would love for the X0 to be lighter, but I doubt it would make any difference in my riding performance or pleasure. I am not the most experienced mountain biker, but I do not find this bike feeling big or experienced any issues with the front end lifting on steep climbs as a few others have mentioned. The XT brakes and shifting are excellent and I find the saddle comfortable. I have no regrets purchasing this bike.

    Good points Brooks. Although I have the X2, (my wallet, and my wife wouldn' allow X0 ;-) ....I find this bike to be hugely enjoyable. It is very stable, and as I get it more tuned in, it only gets better at both cimbing and desending. Enjoy your new ride!!

    I demo'd a Trance XO this past weekend and rode the BLT/Noble Canyon just east of San Diego ( I have a X1 on order, but it will be a few weeks before it arrives). I am a recent convert to 29" wheels after 15 yrs on 26" bikes. My regular ride is a '12 Giant Anthem XO 29er that I have been on for 6 months. The Anthem will remain my race bike, but I wanted a "fun" bike for all mountain type riding.

    Now to my impressions of the bike:
    This was a perfect trail to get an all around impression of the bike. We rode about 35 miles, which included an 8 mi climb, some nice mostly flat single track, and a 10 mi ripping downhill that transitioned from smooth and flow-y to technical and rocky.     The ride started on the climb. I switched between the "trail" and "climb" settings on the suspension to get a feel of the difference. I have to say, the bike was surprisingly efficient in the Climb setting, so it stayed there a majority of the climb. My riding partner actually commented about how little the suspension was reacting to my pedal stroke.

    Once we got to the top, I flipped everything to the Trail mode, where it stayed until the long downhill. One some of the short, twisty downhills, I did notice a bit of a peculiar handling characteristic. The rear end has a slight "swing around" feeling. The really exaggerated way to describe it would be as if you had a swiveling castor wheel in back (like the front wheel on a shopping cart). Obviously, it's not really as if it has a castor wheel in back, but a hint of that sensation is there. I wouldn't necessarily say that I had a strong opinion about this characteristic, good or bad, only that it was something I had to get accustomed to and definitely different from my AX29. Otherwise, I found it pretty easy to handle and it seemed to stay on line well.

    Now to the descent. A quick flip of the suspension to the "Descend" setting and away we went. This bike is a absolute joy when headed downhill. Don't let the strava rankings/times fool you; my buddy's bike had mechanical problems the whole way down, so much of the recorded time was spent working on his rig. Whether it was setting into berms or floating over rocks, the bike was super predictable by this point.

    I know other folks in this thread have a different opinion, but I definitely enjoyed having the CTD suspension. It was a decided advantage to be able to firm up the suspension on the climbs and open it up on the DHs. Can't wait to get my bike, this ride was only enough to whet my appetite

    I live in Wisconsin. Not much 5" worthy trails here. But 7 hrs north is copper harbor an a few other good trails. We have some real nice rocky trails about 15 mins from my house in the kettles. Basically where the glaciers went through and gouged the land into a ton off awesome wooded his and valleys.

    Have demo'ed the Yeti SB95 and Kona Satori thus far

    Yeti - good bike but just never felt very comfortable on it - that said - it's still a pretty rocking bike

    Kona - this one honestly disappeared beneath me and was great for such a long travel 29 - gonna ride it again - after I demo the TX29

    good news I guess - I eliminated the most expensive on my target list!

    Demo'd an X0 three weeks ago and was really impressed. One of my riding buddies bought herself an Anthem X 29er last year and her riding skills have increased immeasurably. The 29er just rolls over everything that gets put in front of it. She climbs like a goat on it and I have been jealous ever since. I've been in the market for a new full suspension bike for a while now and when I heard about the Trance X 29er coming out this year, I was hoping I'd get the opportunity to try it out. As luck would have it, our LBS scheduled the demo truck to coincide with our club's fall mountain bike festival, and my wish came true.

    I never thought I'd afford an X0, so I decided I'd try for the X1 and upgrade to the XT brakes, as I really liked those a lot. Coming from mechanical brakes, I was in awe. The shop owner said he'd see what he could do for me and let me know. Imagine my surprise when he called to tell me he could get me an amazing deal on an X0 and would I be interested. For the price I was quoted, there was no way I could say no. My small X0 arrived in the shop on Thursday and I picked it up on Friday. The shop owner was incredible. He routed all the cables internally for me, and trimmed them up beautifully. On top of that he set the wheels up tubeless for me with Stans. Are you kidding me??? Holy cow - that was above and beyond. I've had perma-grin since I got the call about the bike on Tuesday.

    Today I got to take it out for its inaugural spin. I'm 5'4" with a 29 1/2" standover. The cockpit has been set up with the stem flipped and no spacers beneath it. As such, the handlebars are *just* about even with the saddle. The reach for me feels spot-on. I have a bit of bend in the arms, but it doesn't feel too short and is definitely not too long. The handlebars feel perfect to me, but I have been riding wider bars and shorter stems for a few years now. The only change I have made from stock is to swap out the Fizik saddle for a Specialized Ariel - that Gobi was definitely NOT made for a woman ;o).

    I started off my ride with a nice climb up a benchcut with a couple of switchbacks. No issues whatsoever. In fact, to me, I felt like it handled the switchbacks just as well, if not better than the 26er I was coming off of. I had no nose lift in the front during my climb. I was able to scoot up a bit on the saddle and weight the front end and it felt natural to me and didn't feel like it took any effort to keep the nose down. I do have to get used to the 2x10 gearing. I'm coming from a 3x9 SRAM setup and yeah, this is definitely a bit different. But that's okay, it's just all part of the learning curve of having a new bike, IMO. Shifting was ridiculously smooth and quiet. Very responsive and quick. I heard that there is a breaking-in period for the Shadow derailleur with the clutch, but honestly, I never noticed any hesitation at all.

    The next part of the ride involved a technical rooty/rocky descent over some loose stones. It handled it beautifully. I was going rather slowly and yet I never felt like I had trouble steering it or getting it to respond to my input. The brakes felt awesome! The next section was a flowy bit of trail with some nice turns thrown in. This bike loves to corner. It felt incredibly stable and I had no issues leaning the bike at all and just letting it do its thing. Cornering has always been a weak point for me - I'll readily admit to that. I felt very comfortable maneuvering my body in the cockpit and leaning. I have a singlespeed 29er and this bike, to me, simply did NOT feel like it was big or anything else, at least in regards to me and my riding style. I felt very comfortable on it.

    That being said, there were a couple of thing I noticed. I knew it had a lower bottom bracket, and I had a lot of pedal strikes. I checked out my rear shock and noticed that the O ring was all the way at the bottom. I didn't go over anything that would cause it to bottom out like that, so I wondered if perhaps it just needed more air. This is how it had been set up at the LBS though, so I figured I'd just finish the ride out as it was. I was riding with flat pedals - a decision I made a few months ago right before I attended a skills clinic. I felt, for myself, that I was relying on clipless pedals too much and wanted to work on my skills a bit before giving them a try again. Also, I was having a lot of knee and back pain - which has diminished considerably since I went back to flats. Anyway, you do have to be aware (at least on the small bike) where your foot placement is, as I did experience toe rub from time to time. However, I do get that on my other 29er sometimes, so it's an easy enough adjustment for me.

    The wheels felt great to me and very solid. This was my first experience riding tubeless and I loved it. The Nobby Nics were awesome!! I rode back to the parking lot and got out my shock pump. The rear shock was set a lot lower than what I would normally ride, so I added some air. Same with the fork. I'll give that a spin sometime this week (wet forecast for most of it, so not sure when that will be) and see how it feels to me.
    There are a lot of features on this bike I haven't really tried yet, including switching the settings between climb, trail and descend. And I'll admit, I probably am not the person to ask about that this is my first experience with Fox and such an adjustable suspension system. I left everything on the trail setting for the entire ride.

    So, my ride report isn't full of all kinds of techni-speak but my overall impression is very good. The suspension is very plush and the bike was a joy to ride. I'm really happy with my decision!

    Honestly, the stars must have been aligned for me and my LBS must have worked some serious magic - I got it for just a bit more than what the X1 costs. I never would have expected that in a million years. Like I said, I figured I'd go for the X1 (even that was more than I had originally intended on spending) and upgrade the brakes.

    Yup! I may scoot the saddle back just a hair, too. I had it almost all the way forward as that's how the LBS had the stock saddle set up for me.

    You said you tried the medium, right Nicole? Is there any chance you could sit on a small? I honestly thought I was going to be an x-small too, based on the #'s on the Giant website and what people were saying about order a size smaller than what they would normally go with. I couldn't imagine trying to go smaller now.

    Hey Nicole - my wife has ridden my TX29er a few times now, and it doesn't feel too big on her (she rides my Anthem too). Size S, she's 5'3". No problems in comparison to Epic/Anthem. She hasn't done any long rides on it, but for short jaunts it's fine. I'll get her to do a longer ride on it at some point soon. She could probably go with the XS and be comfortable too, though.

    i sat on a med because thats all they had. it was massive for me. well, maybe it just seemed that way because i had the seat real low, and the bars felt so high. I havent made up my mind on this bike yet. it is great, but i may also have a custom frame made (thats a whole different story)

    Went out and rented a 2013 Giant Trance X 29er on Friday night. Did a quick 15 miler on it on Friday night on my local trails, then went up to Auburn on Saturday and did another 25 miles with about 3000 feet of climbing to see if the bike really was that good. It was! I smashed all my PR's on Strava riding this bike. I went to return the bike and wound up buying on for a price I could not refuse.
    This bike just rolls thru and over everything and seems to be at least as quick and flickable as my old 2008 stumpjumper pro. The suspension is masterful, I the settings on trail most of the time and felt very little bob, it felt very efficient. I think it climbed as well as the stumpjumper due to the oversize wheels, and active suspension. I switched to descend at the end of my ride which was a 3 mile rocky downhill. I have never gone as fast as I did then! WOW, this bike is a fun and fast descender, just rolls over everything! The big reason I went with this over the 29er epic or any of the 29er treks was standover. I am only 5-4 and really did not have any standover on any of those bikes. This bike gives me about 1-2 inches of standover. The only thing I am gonigto change is the brakes to XT andput on a 22 inner chainring so I can get up the steep pitches a bit easier.

    One thing I am a little bummed about is the ability to run any kind of bashguard on the Shimano XT 2X10 setup. I've always just replaced the 3rd ring on my other bikes to run a bashguard and just never gave it a thought with this bike. Without the ISCG tabs, I'm out of luck . I'll ride the bike as it is and see how it goes, but we have a lot of log piles and rock gardens on my local trails that bashguards on my other bikes have proved their worth. Any chance that Giant will be developing some kind of adapter to allow the use of a bashguard?

    Is it feasible to expect Giant to come up with an adapter for a Shimano product?

    Perhaps you can sell the cranks for a set of cranks you prefer. Considering you purchased a small frame, maybe this would be a good chance to try cranks with shorter crank arms.
