Trance 29'r Max brake rotor size

I have a '12 Trancer 29 x1, came with the stock craptastic Elixer brakes, replaced the calipers with LBS reccomended Deores (not XT's as everyone here seems to love) and I'm still very unsatisfied with brake feel, modulation, and power. I do have some '04 Hays 9 MD's with massive 8" rotors, wondering if anyone has tried and succeeded or failed with replacing stock size rotors to something that ginormous? Worse comes to worse I get a 6er of something tasty and make a mess in the garage trying.

Sure, you could fit 203mm rotors. Just get the requisite adapter for your calipers.

I guess my concern was the caliper mounting tab at the rear, it looks like a larger rotor might hit it. Likely be finding out tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
