Trance 27.5 shock upgrade. (monarch plus?)

    Hi All,

I've had a 27.5 Trance 2 for a couple of weeks now and I'm not super stoked with the rear shock, recently its started leaking oil like crazy so I would like to purchase an upgrade before I send the old one in for repairs. Reading around I have seen many have opted for the monarch plus, this is the one I have had my eye on, but I'm not sure which tune to order, or if I need the high volume or low volume canister?

Does anyone here own one of the 27.5 trances that come with a non-plus monarch, what tune does it have?

Any help/suggestions/thoughts, even opinions would be appreciated

Honestly if it were me i'd look at a float x ctd with the Avalanche kit. Speed Sensitive Damping and real Hi/Low comp adjustments.
    Float X High/Low SSD Kit

    Resurrecting the thread...

I tried to install my X-Fusion Vector HLR to my Trance and it's a no-go. The Reservoir (piggyback) hits the frame at like 1.5" travel.

What shocks are compatible with the normal Aluminum frames?

I see the Float X on the Trance Advanced, but that is a carbon frame and it may be a little different around the downtube area than the aluminum ones.

Anybody has replaced the shock on their Trance 27.5?

Mid reb/Mid Comp? I asked in a different thread and the answer I got was M/M. Nothing mentioned about low or high. And the sram website says Mid Reb / Mid Comp, Air Volume: Standard, High Volume.

So all I need to do is to buy a Monarch Plus with M/M tuning?

Anything further on this. I would have thought more folks would be changing out the Fox RP23 or the like for better work gear. What is the shock size on the 2014 Trance 27.5
    Is it a 7.875 x 2

Good, do you know if the 7.875 x 2.2 will work like folks have done on the Reign?

Also to ask the question Warp asked. What shocks are compatible with the Trance 27.5 aluminum frames???

Really close to pulling the trigger on a Trance 27.5 SX. I have most of what I would swap out.

Add 40 or 42 tooth on rear cassette or change to 2 x 10.
Shimano XT brakes or XO Trails
Rear Shock. I have Vector Air HLR (does not fit as per Warp), and Monarch RC3 Plus.
Front Shock, would replace down the road with new 36 RC2 or possibly just change internals.
Swap Giant Post for my KS Lev (5" drop on Lev vs 4" drop on Giant post)

Realistically, I like the build better on the Trance 1 27.5.
Drivetrain, mostly SLX/XT mix but worried on 2x10 without a bashguard.
Front shock - 32 would have to go right away for 34, Pike or 36
Rear wheels are a little more light duty as compared to Trance SX

    oh well, first world problems.
