I'm looking to buy a Trance 27.5 to use usage as a "fun" bike and light enduro/trail riding. For XC racing and marathons I will be using my 29er hardtail. So it doesn't have to be that light, most important is strong and durable with a decent ride quality.
Now I'm looking at two models (EU) and I intend to convert the bike to 1 x 10 with Sram X.0/X.9 parts, put new brakes on it and buy a set of hand built wheelset, so the basis components aren't that relevant. If I take the drivetrain, brakes and wheels out of the consideration, which bike should I get? basically comes down to the fork and shock choice.
below the differences:
Trance 27.5 - 2 LTD
Trance 27.5 2 LTD (2014) - Bikes | Giant Bicycles | International
Fork: Fox Float CTD Evolution 140mm - Overdrive 2
Shock: Fox Float CTD
Colour: Black matt/gloss with white decals
Price: € 1.999 MRSP
Trance 27.5 - 3
Trance 27.5 3 (2014) - Bikes | Giant Bicycles | International
Fork: Rockshock Sektor Silver RL
Shock: Rockshock Monarch
Colour: Red gloss with white and black decals
Price: € 1.599 MRSP
Anybody has experience with one or both bikes? Especially with the fork and shock? Is the Fox equipped Trance better due to the (improved '14) CTD fork and shock. Would I feel that much difference between the overdrive and overdrive 2 fork tube?
Thx in advance
