    Stem lengths on your REIGN

I just picked up my reign 2 this week and I had a bunch of new stuff to throw on it. The bike is awsome it is so smooth and even with the pro-pedal off and fork lockout off when you climb out of the saddle it doesn't bob to much. This bike is way better (so far) then fuel ex.

My question is what stem length are you guys running on your reign if you changed it out. I have a Large size and it came with a 90mm it felt good but I think I was going to try a 70mm truvativ aka white.

    SLX crank
    x9 shifters and rear D.
    Elixir CR brakes
    Bontrager Big Earl bars
    KS i900r seat post

Waiting for BWW to convert my old Pure Hub to a convertible hub so I can put my white wheels on the bike. The XCR wheels are way lighters then the DT Swiss.

I have a 0 rise 70mm Thomson on my med. Reign. It came with a 90mm, but the 70mm definitely feels better to me.

ordered a haven stem at 85mm, might try a 70 too to see how it feels.

I have a 0 rise 70mm Thomson Elite stem on a medium 2010 Reign 0. The 90 was a tad on the long side and the 70mm way better.

50mm, though I used to race DH and still set a bike up for the stem rather than the climb.

I think climbing is more to do with fitness anyway, but it is very hard to descend technical terrain with a long stem. And falling off your bike while ascending is generally a lot less painful than on a descent.

6"+ frame begs for a 70 or less.

Going from a 90 to a 70 stem actually felt wierd to me. Amazing what 2cm's makes.

Are stem changes something you need to get used to? Or should it feel good right away?

I gave it a 2.5 hour long ride last night. Up and down, didn't feel all that good. Maybe I will try flipping the stem for a -6 deg angle to lower the bar a bit. I prefer a more laid over body position on my bike.

Did you couple the stem change with a wider bar?

If not, you might end up too upright for your preferences. There is a reason that people switch up stems/bars together sometimes...

So tried the 70mm inverted which lowered the bar a bit, felt pretty good. Cured the front end wash out and climbed well. Will have to give it some more rides before I stick with it. Definetly noticed the steering being more responsive. Hard to beleive what a difference 2cm's can make.

Hello, Im new on this forum stuff, I need some help because I really want to change the 90mm stem for something like 50mm, I use my bike 80 % of the time for descent. As you guys should know the Giant Reign 1, 2013 comes with overdrive 2, which is for 1-1/4 steering tube diameter... that is what I understand.
So the question is what options do I have to get a shorter stem, different brands than giant stems...

Medium '13 Reign - I went with a 50mm Answer stem, coupled with the 720 AM carbon bars

Love the change and the handling changes.

    Thanks!
