Yeah I love the white on the Revels. Im glad the link helped, the handlebar is now on my Trance (Revels are a gateway drug), the carbon on it is pretty cool too - hard to describe.

Yeah the next logical thing to grab is a fork.

I've considered trying to upgrade to a sealed bearing setup, but could never find the proper information to know what to buy.

Shoot.. our stock forks are not tapered right? 1 1/8 is the fork size I need? Do I also need to buy a shock pump?

No, they're not tapered, Yes and it's recommended, the Suntour forks do not come with one.

Welcome aboard. To be completely honest I got mine because of the entry-level price and well-built frame. The components are trash, that is no secret, but I used that as an opportunity to transform mine into what I wanted it to be. if you pull the trigger on yours don't spend more than 600-650 or esle they are asking too much. Also, be prepared to lose the fork before you take the reflectors off as well shop for a new crankset and brakes. After that you're hanging with anyone on the trail.

    Upgrades:

    Fork-Manitou match comp
    Brakes-Avid BB7
    Cables-Jagwire Ripcord
Tires-Panracer fire pro front, WTB velociraptor rear
    Grips-Oury grips

It's a fun bike, but my next bike will definitely be a full suspension. Hardtails get the job done, but after riding my friend's Yeti ASR 5, my eyes have been opened lol.

Nice Revel and fun-looking trail. Which GoPro are you using and what resolution/FPS? I bought a Hero 3 Black edition last night and I'm just starting to open up its capabilities. I did get the seatpost/bar mount also so I'm diggin that seatpost shot. I'm hoping it's dry enough in the Emerald City tonight to get some trail shots and test out the new toy. Cheers.

Right on, nice angle. 'Default settings' meaning... 1080/30 FPS/W?

I'm using a contour roam for my video. It's set at 720p, 30fps. I've tried messing with different camera angles and so far my favorite is the seatpost, but those chest mount pov turn out great too.

@ericgautier - Nice video, I like those camera angles.

    Thanks!

Going to try and capture more of us "in" the trail next time instead of just pov.

Did you get a chance to snap a pic? Curious how you setup your chain guide.

So, while searching the net last night, I saw this..

    Race Face 2013

Sent an email to Race Face asking if this will work with their external BB and got this reply,

" Yes, you can use our Chain Guide bracket to install an ISCG chainguide. When installing the bracket, just replace the required DS spacer with the chainguide bracket."

Then pair it up with this - Blackspire Stinger Chain Tensioner > Components > Drivetrain > Chain Tensioners and Guides | Jenson USA Online Bike Shop

Just thinking out loud... thoughts on using something like this?

Did 5 miles last night at Tapeworm in Renton, WA (3 loops). Trail was in good shape because a volunteer was there finishing some rough spots as I began. Revel handled great as always but I was most satisfied with my tires. I have S-Works Ground Controls and they saved me arse as I began to slide out a few times. Rocks, roots, loose dirt it just kept grabbing and keeping the back under me during tight turns and sketchy landings.

I also did 3 separate video takes with my new Hero 3 Black but didn't have time to edit it all down yet. I was filming at 1440/48 FPS/W and after a bit of file compression and tweaking to the color and sharpness the uncut clips turned out really great. I did one seatpost facing back, one handlebar POV and one helmet POV. Hoping to get it thrown together to post on here soon.
