    Resurrected Giant XTC

I picked up this old Giant frame with the intentions of building an entry level bike to ride on moderate trails so thus far, the components are lack luster and most of it was taken off an old bike. I didn't even know what model it was since all the decals were took off it, but I made a call to Giant so I can get some tube sizes and from the serial, they determined it was an 04 XTC frame. I sent it to West Coast Powder Coating in San Bruno where Chris did an awesome job putting a 20% white job on it, which makes it looks like a matte white finish. All the parts were just bought online and its 95% percent done thus far. I also have my decals coming in and I still have to airbrush my front badge to black.

The parts of have on there now (but some will get replaced)

    Frame: 04 XTC
    Fork: Suntour XCR 120MM
Headset: Cane Creek Ten ZS Short Stack IS (44mm)
    Crank: FSA Dyna Drive
Pedals: Junk ones. Still determining which to get.
    Brakes: Shimano Deore M595
    Stem: Profile Design
Handlebar: UNO (Easton Monkey Lite ordered)
    Grips: Specialized BG Contour
    Front Derailleur: Sram X7
    Rear Derailleur: Sram X4
Shifters: Sram X4 with Jagwire Housings (will be replaced with X9s as you can tell in the pic, these are jacked).
    Wheels: Maddux DX221
Tires: Kenda Kobras (will get changed)
Seat Post: FSA 30.6 (without shim) (ordered and should get it this week)
    Seat: Giant Sport

    Its a work in progress...

    That bike looks just awesome!
How did you find out what year it was from?
Just got myself a Giant XTC3 the other day and is kind of curious about the age.

If you look under the bottom bracket, you should see at serial number. The first character is usually a letter (mine is G) and the numbers after that should indicate the year so in my case, it started out G04. Talking to Giant, they mentioned that it also could be a 05 since bikes built at the end of the year sometimes are next year's model.

Sounds like an 06 or an 07.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but do you still have pictures? The image links are all broken. I'm rebuilding an '08 XTC2 so I'd love to see how your paint and decals turned out.
