    replacement nrs shock

I apologize if this topic has been beat to death. I'm looking to replace the RockShox Sid shock on my 2003 NRS 3. It slowly leaks air now, is quite noisy, and wasn't my favorite shock to begin with. I know that the Cane Creek shocks have been recommended on this site before, but my question is, why not all of the normal shocks made by Manitou or Fox? Will those ones not fit on an NRS? Or is it just that they will change the riding characteristics? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

ps. I have a Marzocchi mx pro 105 up front.

Fox and Manitou shocks will fit the NRS also. This guy who rides on my trail has a Fox RP3 on his 2003 Nrs and he loves it... he paid about 300+ for it though. The RP3 fits but you have to sand down the lockout (tension) switch so you can rotate it for the NRS. You cant access the air valve if you flip the RP3 the other way around. The cane creek cloud nine cost about 225 with the trade in of the old shock (not sure if the deal is still going on... check out cane creek website). I think pretty much any shock thats 6.5 x 1.5 should fit fine... I guess it all comes down to how much you want to spend. The 2004's came with fox rear shocks.

The best rear shox for giant NRS is: Manitou Radium R, Fox float ava R or Fox Float R and Rock shox BAR

Fox Float AVA works great on my 2004 NRS. Makes the first bit of travel super plush/responsive with still no pedal bob (obviously)

RS Ario would also be a good choice too, wouldn't it be?
