Replacement crankset/BB for a 2003 Ginat Rincon mtb

    Hi all,

'am a newbie to cycling and this forum.

I recently got an used 2003 Giant Rincon 24speed mtb, with SR Suntour 175mm crankset (42/32/22T) and Shimano Acera front derailleur. Turns out that at least 4 cogs are worn-out on the largest chain-ring.

'am looking for some guidance re the replacement of a worn-out crankset (and possibly it's bottom-bracket). Searched the web but could not find the specs on the current crankset installed.

Does any know what is a good replacement crankset/BB for this model ?

As it's 24 speed, you're best off sticking with an Alivio crankset of something. Don't go anything too high end - it'll probably cost more than the bike is worth

Yup, definitely best to stay within the 42T max range. Something like the Alivio line would be best. Also, you'll need to know what size bottom bracket you need (most likely either 68mm or 73mm)

I'm going to be putting a TruVativ X-Flow crankset in great condition that will work with your setup on eBay next week (comes with /68mm BB) I'll send you the link if you're interested.
