Reign - Straight head tube to tapered. Question.

I have a 2010 Reign and have been throwing around the idea of getting a new one, or a TX29, etc.

But in reality the only major difference or update (between my '10 and a '12) is the tapered head tube right?

Question is, does it make that much of a difference that it's even worth getting a leftover '12 for example, if my current '10 is solid and good to go for next year?

Does the taper do that much? I know and understand the reason behind it...but curious if I would really gain anything. I'm betting if I rode each back-to-back I would feel it, but wondering if is really that significant - so much so that it'd be worth buying new, or just putting some more money into my '10 for next year.

I'll bet the heavy hard riding dudes may notice a difference, light riders like myself probably won't. I'm sticking to my 08 reign until a significant change happens.
    Maybe carbon?
