I built this bike with the intention of making it the go to bike if I had no idea what type of bike would suit a trail I'd never ridden best.
The goals: efficient, sturdy/durable/reliable, lightweight.
The weight goal was really a challenge as well as a priority. I work in a shop and I want all of my customers to walk through the door and be able to get the exact parts I run. This takes all those uber-light european parts off the table. Everything I have on my bike is something that can be purchased through one of my major distributors.
I was also
really trying to keep to a strict budget throughout the build so of course you won't see everything top end on this build, but most parts were chosen for value, weight and quality.
I ended up at 26.8lbs right now without anything titanium or carbon(except the bar). I have a headset, pedals, derailleur, and bashguard on their way that will drop another 180ish grams.
Next year when I'm back up to health and don't have so much on my plate I plan to swap the brakes for R1's. The shifting will be replaced by a full XX group. I think I can get close to the 26lbs range, while keeping a full 150mm travel, 2.4 tires, and a height adjust post. I might try to switch to a carbon crank as well. I just blew up my FSA K-Force so for now the E13 will do at 755g+the 99g BB.
Anyway, here she is:
Going up! Drop the fork, raise the post. Yes, the post looks tall. I'm 5'11 with a 36" inseam. My torso is super short so I ride mediums with tall posts. Proper leg extension requires a full foot a exposed seatpost.
Going down! Drop the seat, raise the fork. I'm not 100% satisfied with the cable routing. I know I can clean it up a touch. I'm doing a shake down run tomorrow so I'll make changes with what I find.
