Really Crest? and KNCN goodies on a 6" travel frame?? What is next?? a SID??

Generally speaking I agree with that logic as such light parts can limit the bikes ability to be thrashed! Which is what makes a 6" bike so much fun to ride... :)

But parts scale with rider weight, flows may seem more logical for a 6" bike than Crests. BUT, a 300+ lb rider will on average bend the crap out of flows if they ride hard. So for that person it makes more sense to go with an even stronger/heavier rim. (of which notubes doesn't even make cause they must like the fact that DH's have to buy extra rims for replacement parts!)

Looking at the whole set up of the bike it seems likely it's intended for a rider that weights in on the light side!

I guess you are right .. If you are light, and easy on gears, you can get away with lighter parts.

I'm a WW myself and a 145 pounds rider. I even succefully (well, I used the warranty just one time) used ZTR Race wheelset as my everyday rims on my "XC" bike for 2 seasons.

But this bike, geez, at least some 27" wider bars (I think he already put ones a little wider). These bars are like 22"

Actually I tried to put a Romic coil on it but the bottom "shock cage" would not allow
the shock to be mounted. I'm not sure what kind of coil would work with that set up.

Well crap, I almost got rid of my old Romic and thought I should save it to try it on the Rx. (course it's been a year an a half since I had that thought) Guess there's no point in keeping it around anymore then...? :)

Finally got a new MTB. All i can say is three words. Totally bad ass. I think this may be the best bike i've ever had. All stock except wider easton bars and stem. Took it on a shakedown ride at bootleg canyon this morning. The maestro suspension climbs so well and then on the flipside it tracks so well on the downhill. The only part i think is kinda cheap is the deore rear hub. Whats up with that? Anyway heres the pics to capture the real color. It is awesome in person, blood red.

    Wow, really nice bikes,
I have question for you guys, currently Iīm buying Reign 2 2012, since my LBS in Croatia doesnīt have bike in store, I canīt see what size should I get? Iīm 183 cm (6ī) tall, and I donīt know should I get M or L size, my inseam is 91 cm (35.8 inches). Main reason for my question is that, I used to have Glory 1 2007 M size, and Iīm not certain in manueverability of the L size bike.

    Thanks

You'd be a large, Im 5'10 with a 31" inseam and the medium is perfect to a hair to small.. but it makes it nice for throwing around.. My brother has ridden the demo large reign 1 at my LBS
and he's 6' and 36" in seem and it fits him great..

    2010 Reign 1 Action Videos
    Hi People,
Can we post here videos of our reigns too? hope so, there is nearly no action here.

Back in October, I broke my left arm in a stupid crash, and was off the bike for a long time. Still am.
In the mean time, our local gang organized a totally amateur competion with friends from other parts of Portugal.
A friend had just broken his Reign X lower link, so I borrowed him my 2010 Reign 1 (already in this thread) for that day.
For your viewing pleasure, he is half of my age, twice my skills, and guess what: has a Gopro... :)
I spent the day taking times, and driving up and down with a cast in the arm :-)
    Worth it, nevertheless

First video from the "race", which has some (boring) uphills
    <iframe width="560" height="461" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/gxNKd4ZQTsM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Second video, from the rest of the day, exploring other fantastic trails, in Sintra, Portugal:

Just been though all 13 pages of this thread.

I have a 05 Reign frame coming this week (hopefully, I haven't got shipping confirmation yet....) I picked it up for cheap. It will be my first FS frame to compliment my SS HT.

The frame has the original Swinger on it and I plan on running it till it blows. Can anybody tell me about changing the shock out to a Van R? How does it change the bike? I know I am getting a head of my self I am just pumped to get the bike built up.

Don't know how it's done in your country, but I think you should get your other arm broke for racing through people on multi-use trails with family's on them... riding sure, but seeing those two guys elbowing at each other for the single lane on "singletrack" with hikers on the trail up in ahead of them was pretty lame...

I'm all for going fast, but that was some BS!

(now if this was a DH course that isn't supposed to have people walking on it than I apologize, but it doesn't look like that's the case to me)

Good news, bro!!! :) No need to break the other arm, the broken one is already healed !! I can break it again.
And then I'll make sure to break one arm of everyone involved, for punishment of beeing part of such a terrible thing.

    pfff
You might have your point, but that happened in about (that) 1% of the trail, and going uphill. Furthermore, we often share the trails with pedestrians, in peace and safety. The usual reaction is just joy, even if in "competition mode".
I've made at least 10x more dangerous close calls in the last Mega alone, and it had a professional organization.

Relax, dude. But don't get out of your glass bell jar, or you might get hurt. Or worst. You may cross a red light or something, and then as a coherent guy you are for sure, you'll just suicide yourself.

If you agree, I'll break the two arms of the guys fighting for that position. Fair enough?

    Stiingya,

I must add to the story ! :) I am the guy fighting for position with the blue helmet. Fortunately here in Portugal we don't fret on tagging trails for multi-use, horse use, trekking, biking, whatever. There are trails open for motorized, not open for motorized and not open at all and it works perfectly fine. In fact the people you say were "uuuhh" so frightened and at risk for us passing by in a 100 meter wide trail were actually cheering as we went by! But you know what ? I could be the one at risk for their unleashed dog... but well that would be the chicken and the egg story, no? Guess our reasoning.. Let's get along !

Anyways as for you wishing for Marsupilami (what a stupid name F calls himself on the forum) to break another arm it almost got fulfilled but in the form of a wrist. Nonetheless I must say that you should conduct all that anger and practice reverse digestion of a big pole.

Nice rides on your perfectly groomed, tagged and so civilized trails ! :)

    2010 Reign Updates
Okay here is the latest installment of my 2010 Reign

Picked up as frame only, the moved components from my 2008 Reign. Updated a few things along the way.

Sun Charger Expert wheels run tubeless with Schwalbe tires
Replaced my older XT with a newer set
Replaced RP23 with Monarch RC3, have one ride on it.
    Added Bionicon C-Guide

Off to test it out tomorrow after work.

I am quite happy how the bike is setup, built to take some abuse, with some pretty heavy duty rubber to handle the steep, rocky and muddy terrain, and still just above 31.5 lbs as she sits. Here is how she looks now.

    Cheers

There a a number of really nicely done up Reigns, some with really nice wheels or pretty tricked out drivetrain, but not too many with shocks being changed out. Just curious to those that like to tinker and build up these bikes but keep the stock RP2 or RP23, how do you rate the suspension performance?

I have had 3 Reigns, 2005, 2008, and currently a 2010 and have changed around shocks on the 2008 and 2010. Went from a RP2 to a RP23, then custom tuned RP23, then a Monach Plus RC3 and now a X-Fusion Vector Air HLR (still learning how to setup).

For me and my riding style the Monarch felt much better than the RP2 or RP23. Both the RP23 and Monarch are limited with 3 compression settings, but the Monarch with the piggyback seems to be able to control the larger or sharper hit/bumps better.

Now the couple of rides I have on the Vector it performs even better in this area over the Monarch, but due to the number of dials it is not quite as convenient to change settings as compared to the lever on the Monarch or RP23.

So again curious as to how folks on here rate the performance of the rear suspension. I see the riding terrain and conditions are quite varied as could be shown from the very nice shot right about with marsupilami hitting what appears to be quite a sizable jump.

I upgraded my rear sus performance quite a bit by going to a 2.25"-stroke Van-R coil shock. Upgraded it with a Zoke titanium spring a bit later. Way better than the stock DHX-4 air. YMMV.
