Putting new shock on 2012 Giant TranceX4

I picked up the above listed bike the other day and then found a 2012 Fox Fit RLC with 120 and 150 mm settings.

I put it on and still have a little movement in the shock when I hold the front brake and rock the bike forward and back. I tightened it up and got the majority of it to go away but it's a bit stiff to turn so obviously too tight.

It is a 1.5 to 1 1/8th taper. Is that all that's needed or do I need to put some Giant specific piece on the shock steer tube to get this to go away?

Did you also swap the headset to a standard or still have the ODII? That may cause some issues.
