    2011 Giant XTC2

Changes I have made are to the Carbon riser bars, shortened the stem back to 90mm, chunkier front tyre, pedals, and the drink holder.

    XTC Composite 29

This is my first Giant. I am pleasantly surprised, I really like this bike. My favorite hard tail to date. Since the picture (The bar is lower, the seat is higher, the chainstay is wrapped and the brake lines are shorter.) I also tried it with a Niner carbon fork, extremely fast on smooth tails with the carbon fork. I think I might convert it to a single speed for the 2012 6/9 hour series. Enjoy

    2012 XTC Composite 29'er DH Semi-Pro LTD...

    Gratitious post.

The Semi-Pro version comes with a gold derailleur hanger bolt and blue ano waterbottle cage bolts. Expect to pay a premium for these upgrades but they are worth every penny.

Not to be confused with the 'All-Mountain' version which sports a 'forks', this model features a 'fork.' Feel free to debate that in the appropriate forum.

It's DH because the bars say so.

PUSH'd seat tube for added plushness .

XL sizeway for those superior in height.

Started off in 1996 with a GT RTS 2 then in 2004 I picked up a Trek Fuel.

My first hardtail. I enjoy the way it rides so I upgraded it here and there.

My 2008 Boulder SE bought on craigslist 2 years ago for $110 then invested over $550 into so far lol. Still want to throw on a Reba fork, disc front brake, and eggbeater pedals.

I'm new to MTBR forum. I don't have 10 posts yet! Hence, I can't upload my new bike picture yet.

I've just custom built a 26" XtC based on 2012 Blue Frame. It comes with SRAM X9 Groupset & Shimano Deore XT brake. I'm happy riding it in the last few days.

My 2011 XTC 2 29er - bone stock. I have a BBG bashguard on it now and she's a hottie.

What year is yours BBXTC? I thought we had the same but now they don't look the same. Did yours come with a Marz fork?

THey can be had new on ebay for around $250 shipped.

They are not light, but definitely pretty bomb proof, so I can hit anything as hard as I want

Another 2011 XtC 29er 2 here but not stock...

    I've changed/added:

    - 1x9 setup
    - Giant Contact SLR XC Carbon Riser handlebar
    - Giant Contact SLR seatpost
    - Stan's ZTR Crest w/ tubeless setup
    - Maxxis Ikon EXO tires
    - Fizik Gobi XM saddle
    - Loaded seatpost clamp
    - Crank Brothers Eggbeater 3
    - Deity Compound pedals

Lately I've been riding with the platforms more than the Eggbeaters and that's why they're currently on the bike. I can hit berms faster with the pedals so it's a lot more fun for me. With the clipless pedals the bike weighs 24 lbs 9 oz and I still plan to change out the the drivetrain and forks.

    nice naturally aspirated!

where do you think most your weight savings came from? I wanna do something to my near stock XTC but it's all just a bunch of small noticeably pricey stuff or expensive wheels/fork =/ gotta pay to play (lightly) i guess.

What's your theory on the flats and berms?

Thanks! I know my biggest weight savings were the wheels/tires and tubeless setup. It was one of my first mods, the first being a 1x9 setup and Eggbeaters. With those 3 mods, I got it down to 25 lbs 8 oz.

Hmm my theory on flats and berms? Well, I started mountain biking April of last year. I rode with the bike completely stock, had my first race in September. Even though it was a Cat 3 race, I placed 2nd, only 9 seconds behind 1st place. The leading pack all had clipless pedals. I was talking to the guy who got 1st and he was very surprised that I was on platforms. He recommended to me that clipless pedals had made him faster but then again he had been riding bikes for 14 years. Me? 5 months. So immediately after the race I bought the Eggbeaters. Used them religiously until about a week ago. I bought these Deity's because I was curious just how fast I had gotten with clipless and to my surprise, I wasn't. I'm sure others will make some argument about it, (ie that's what the pros use for racing, etc...) but the way I see it, I can instinctively dab a foot down if my entry speed into a corner is too high and I feel my front end about to wash out. You can argue that you can also do that with clipless, but I guarantee I can be pedaling by the time you still have to clip in again. Also during the race, I had people fall in front of me during obstacles. And this would cause me to stop, get off the bike, run around them, hop on, and start pedaling again. Much easier when you don't have the clipless pedals and shoes to mess with.

    Changes for 2012.....

Carbon XLR lefty from project 321...

The marzocchi Corsa was rebuilt twice last season, and continued to knock during each compression, its lost air, and was a right pain/hassle. Eventually i got my money back and upgraded! Not yet weighed this year, but suspect i've lost a bit of weight up front, so maybe 19lbs ish?

Incase you wonder about the green hoses.... I race for my island - Guernsey, as part of the Island Games every other year and our team kit is green!

hey people, this is my first post here and just wanted to show my bike. Nothing special, I mainly use it to get to and from work and it does the job quite well

Just a stock '12 Revel 0, I will be getting some fenders and a chain-stay protector "whatever you call it to protect from chain slap".

Toss some cheap commuting lights on it and a seat bag with a few tools and ill be set.

Here's ours. All stock and yes, still toting reflectors. These bikes are way more capable than we are for sure. They've been awesome so far.

Spoons are sweet mate. It's the only saddle I could comfortably ride on all day!

My 2012 Australian XTC2. Grips replaced with Lizard Skins charger lock ons. Minor brake upgrade to Avid Elixir 7's.

I've had this bike for 5 months and it has been great. I'll soon be upgrading to a Trance X 29er 0 as it suits my current riding style. The bike will be staying in my extended family and should see some drivetrain upgrades from a bike mad relative

    2013 XTC 2

I have carried out the obligatory reflector (and bell!) removal. Also pulled the stickers off the rims (one was already lifting) and most of the ones from the fork. Shimano DX PD-MX30 pedals and makeshift chainstay protector (zip tied strips of polypropylene) are the only modifications as yet. Single chainring and chainguide are waiting in the wings until I get the necessary tools to install them.

Does anyone know what the black on silver "2" sticker means?

The 2 refers to the model. i.e. the 2 in "XTC 29er 2".

Here in Australia last year there was a choice between the "XTC 29er 0" and "XTC 29er 2".

    Crossposting from the SS section.

This was my last rigid frame before I got a FS bike. Thought of selling it, or at least trying. But since it wouldn't be worth that much money, and as I had some parts laying around, decided to go for a SS build and keep a second bike for some rides around the block and to roll on asphalt easily.

This is a 01' XtC 840 and during 11 years has seen three different builds, being this the third. And I can't say it will be the last! Still rides well, and that stem/steerer has been the best ever combo I have put my hands on. Still haven't find anything that comfortable.

Currently has it can be seen, I'm using it as a SS, road oriented, bike.

Nice Giant hard tails on this thread. I have a 2010 Talon 0 26er that I have slowly built up with parts to just how I want it. I notice that most of the Talons are 29er and that 26er may not have been available in the States. For my riding on single track as well as XC I'm happy with the 26er though curious at the difference feel of a 29er. I will post some pics soon.

Currently its is setup as follows:
Rock Shox Reba RLT 120mm (2012)
    wheels - Mavic 721/HopePro
brakes - SLX Hydraulic disc 180/160mm
drive train - XT/SLX RD and Casette
    EastonEA70 Bar, EA90 Stem
    SPD Clipless - dual platform

    Giant Talon 0 (2010)

As mentioned above, this is how she's looking nowadays...

I still cut down the steerer tube eventually. When the time comes I will upgrade the crank set to SLX.

Rides very well and currently weighs around 27lbs or 12.2kg.

The frame is definitely quality, not the lightest but strong and rigid.

Thanks, it was a rebuild right from the frame up. Only stock parts left are frame, forks and saddle. Waiting on sticker kit, was going to leave it blank but I printed a nice black giant logo and taped in on the down tube and it set the bike off so I orderd a kit.
    Parts list as follows
    Shifters and derailleurs X9
Brakse Hope Tech M4 both sets
rotors 185 front and back Hope floating saw blades
    stem Hope
Bars Truvativ Carbon T20 700 MM
Wheels Stans ZTR Arch EX on Hope pro hubs front and back
    Cranks raceface ride 175 mm
    Chain rings raceface Turbine 26 and 36 2 X 10
Bottom Bracket raceface Press fit BB92
    Seatpost raceface Next SL carbon
    Saddle stock Giant
cassette Shimano XT 11x36 10 speed.

I haven't ridden this frame since I bought my TranceX in 2010. It's a 2003 Yukon HT. It's my first bike and I'll never sell it. It's currently a frame only and I'm going to strip and repaint this winter for a SS build next spring. I do miss riding a HT at times.

Get out and ride even when you don't want to because ten minutes into the ride you'll be glad you did.
