I'm new to MTBR forum. I don't have 10 posts yet! Hence, I can't upload my new bike picture yet.

I've just custom built a 26" XtC based on 2012 Blue Frame. It comes with SRAM X9 Groupset & Shimano Deore XT brake. I'm happy riding it in the last few days.

My 2011 XTC 2 29er - bone stock. I have a BBG bashguard on it now and she's a hottie.

What year is yours BBXTC? I thought we had the same but now they don't look the same. Did yours come with a Marz fork?

    Mavic EX721 with XT hubs

THey can be had new on ebay for around $250 shipped.

They are not light, but definitely pretty bomb proof, so I can hit anything as hard as I want

Another 2011 XtC 29er 2 here but not stock...

    I've changed/added:

    - 1x9 setup
    - Giant Contact SLR XC Carbon Riser handlebar
    - Giant Contact SLR seatpost
    - Stan's ZTR Crest w/ tubeless setup
    - Maxxis Ikon EXO tires
    - Fizik Gobi XM saddle
    - Loaded seatpost clamp
    - Crank Brothers Eggbeater 3
    - Deity Compound pedals

Lately I've been riding with the platforms more than the Eggbeaters and that's why they're currently on the bike. I can hit berms faster with the pedals so it's a lot more fun for me. With the clipless pedals the bike weighs 24 lbs 9 oz and I still plan to change out the the drivetrain and forks.

    nice naturally aspirated!

where do you think most your weight savings came from? I wanna do something to my near stock XTC but it's all just a bunch of small noticeably pricey stuff or expensive wheels/fork =/ gotta pay to play (lightly) i guess.

What's your theory on the flats and berms?

Thanks! I know my biggest weight savings were the wheels/tires and tubeless setup. It was one of my first mods, the first being a 1x9 setup and Eggbeaters. With those 3 mods, I got it down to 25 lbs 8 oz.

Hmm my theory on flats and berms? Well, I started mountain biking April of last year. I rode with the bike completely stock, had my first race in September. Even though it was a Cat 3 race, I placed 2nd, only 9 seconds behind 1st place. The leading pack all had clipless pedals. I was talking to the guy who got 1st and he was very surprised that I was on platforms. He recommended to me that clipless pedals had made him faster but then again he had been riding bikes for 14 years. Me? 5 months. So immediately after the race I bought the Eggbeaters. Used them religiously until about a week ago. I bought these Deity's because I was curious just how fast I had gotten with clipless and to my surprise, I wasn't. I'm sure others will make some argument about it, (ie that's what the pros use for racing, etc...) but the way I see it, I can instinctively dab a foot down if my entry speed into a corner is too high and I feel my front end about to wash out. You can argue that you can also do that with clipless, but I guarantee I can be pedaling by the time you still have to clip in again. Also during the race, I had people fall in front of me during obstacles. And this would cause me to stop, get off the bike, run around them, hop on, and start pedaling again. Much easier when you don't have the clipless pedals and shoes to mess with.

    Changes for 2012.....

Carbon XLR lefty from project 321...

The marzocchi Corsa was rebuilt twice last season, and continued to knock during each compression, its lost air, and was a right pain/hassle. Eventually i got my money back and upgraded! Not yet weighed this year, but suspect i've lost a bit of weight up front, so maybe 19lbs ish?

Incase you wonder about the green hoses.... I race for my island - Guernsey, as part of the Island Games every other year and our team kit is green!

hey people, this is my first post here and just wanted to show my bike. Nothing special, I mainly use it to get to and from work and it does the job quite well

Just a stock '12 Revel 0, I will be getting some fenders and a chain-stay protector "whatever you call it to protect from chain slap".

Toss some cheap commuting lights on it and a seat bag with a few tools and ill be set.

Here's my newly purchased hardtail. Going from an Anthem X1 it was quite an adjustment but I love it. It weighs 22lbs 13oz as it sits, mostly stock except for wheels and carbon handlebar.
