    Post Your Glory Pic's Here...

    I see there is not a sticky Thread for Giant Glorys. Lets start one. Post your pics of you Giant Glory rides here. My 07 will be here in just under a week and I will post pics as soon as I get it.

    For now lets see you setups and your thoughts of the bike. Action shots are good too.

    Any changes from '06 to '07? I've been more surprised by the Glory than any ohter bike I've owned (in a positive way). The thing rips.

    FCLINDER, you sure there's geo change between 06 Glory and 07 Glory DH? I don't think so... There's change between 06 Glory and 07 Glory (FR), that's sure

    I just rebuild e13 chainguide and I will post latest pic of my Glory 06

    1st dh race in manila

    the fun factor on the Glory is great, the race factor is superb. efficient pedalling and drops jumps like a cat with willingness,boost confidence. small frame fits my size 5' 7, once you sit on the saddle the front and rear suspention sag at the same time and rate.

    hej goRz, tak, to te hopy
    first you jump over stairs with tiny left transfer and then you take off from the main kicker you can do 12m long and 4m vertical flight
    the spot is just below Plac Trzech Krzyzy.

    richy_a2r, your bike is just beautiful I love it
    can you pls post full specs list?
    you can save another 200-250g if you remove bashguard and instal LG1 plates instead of SRS. But, of course, if you hit rocks with the bashguard frequently, keep it.
    DHX Air is 550g lighter than DHX 4.0 or 5.0 you curretly have on the bike.

    ps. get carbon fiber shock cover, it will add another few "horse power" more to your bike

    Hi,

    someone told me the difference between the 240mm DHX 5.0 Air (2007) and the 240mm DHX 4.0 Coil (2006, 550-spring) is about 600-650g.

    Removing the Blackspire-Bashguard would save 170g. A carbon-chainguide would save ~130g. Maxle Rear Axle saves ~90g. A "street"-cassette would save another ~170g.

    Hope to get the bike under 18kg...

    specs:
    Giant Glory, DHX 4.0 Coil (Size M; DHX Air 5.0 coming)
    RS Boxxer WC (2007)
    e.13 Ali Light Stem
    Avid Juicy 5 brakes
    Easton EA70 bar
    Syncros seatpost
    X.9 rear der./x.7 trigger (07 x.9 to come)/shimano mtb cassette
    Nero Carbon-Saddle
    Wellgo MG-1 Pedals
    Holzfeller Cranks
    Truvativ Howitzer Team 83mm
    Blackspire DS-1 Lexan Guide
    BigBetty Tires
    ProPalm Lock-Ons

    well, I have got DHX Air 5.0 2007 and it's definitely 550g, not 600-650g, ligther than DHX 4.0 Coil... you can believe me
    oh, I love CF saddle as well as e13 stem and boxxer WC
    CF chain device would be nice on that bike
    you would certainly save few grams if you used road racing cassette, but gear ratio range would be much smaller (if you know what I mean )
    I saved about 400-500g switching Kendas for Schwalbe B-B and DH inner tubes for regular 200g mtb ones
    Tell me, are Juicys 5 enough for DH racing? I am going to switch Hopes 6ti for Juicys 7 2007...

    yup, i meant a road racing cassette ("A "street"-cassette" ). My next cassette will be a road racing one...

    Schwalbe Big Betty (900g) and Schwalbe Xtra-Light tubes (129g) are already on...

    IMHO the Juicys are enough for downhill (203/203mm) with other brake pads (Koolstop, ...) than the orginal ones. But it depends on your weight, I weigh only 65kg so they are enough for me... the brake power is fine, but my favorite brake is solely the Formula Oro (K18 or K24). Great look, more power than the Juicys (203/203), not that expensive and some nice features... here's the description:

    "ORO K18: Powerful, Lightweight, and Affordable!

    -Lever:
    Flip-flop lever design.
    Removable lever clamp – no need to remove shifters and grips for lever removal.
    Patented inline open system reservoir which makes for a super compact lever design.
    Polyester braided hose for increased expansion resistance.
    Zinc plated fasteners.

    -Caliper:
    Post mount style calipers w/adaptors. No little shims to mess with: Quick and easy adjustments.
    22mm pistons for the most stopping power of any 2 piston brake (testing done by Bike Germany in conjunction with a German University).
    Quick and easy pad replacement.
    Vented Caliper for increased heat dissipation.
    Zinc plated fasteners.

    -395g with 160mm rotors, IS adaptor and all fasteners included!
    -Add 32g for 180mm rotor and 62g for 200mm rotors."

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Lots of people who had the Hope 6ti / Hope M6 said the braking power was disappointing (compared to an Oro, Juicy or Hope M4). Powerful, but not what you expect from a 6piston-brake (was on the level of an 203/203 Oro)... so my advice is: take a set of Oros...
    P.S: I'm still waiting for detail-pics of your Glory (and the DHX Air!)...
    Greetings
    What pressure do you run in DHX Air ? i've read that in Maestro which has high suspension ratio you have to run high pressures, and it may be a problem for heavy riders. I am about 194 lbs with all the gear so it's not that big, but I still wouldn't like to run very high pressure in the shock.... (in Faith)
    IMO Juicy's 5 have plenty of power but some complain about modulation... you really have to get used to them.... tricky on wet but I'm really satisfied with them.
    2007 FR Glory / 8.0 frame weight?
    Can anyone post REAL frameset weight figure for 2007 Glory? 8.0 freeride model, not 8.8 DH specific.
    richy_a2r, you even use x-light tubes? don't you have s-bites often?
    I am a small guy, I weigh 62-63kg... which makes 67kg with helmet, shoes and armor.
    as far as I know, there is no good Formula distributor in Poland... moreover, I think I will get J7s with big discount from Sram directly I hope
    I think I will be able to take some pics of my G-DH in the daylight on Saturday
    goRz, I think I have got about 180-210 psi in the main chamber, now. I increased pressure recently, cause I bottomed out landing this step-down... Generally, the shock works surprisingly linear... It's a little been less sensitive then coil at the beginning, but the rest of the travel is like on coil version of course, the best thing is that you can set it every way you want even on the trail that's why I want boxxer WC and... maybe... in 2008... I will go for complete Glory 0 and switch rear and front shock for air but, it's just a dream
    ano rodakiem jest on And he wants a light DH-all-mountain bike with 7-8" of travel, which is light at hte same time.... I guess than it would be a miracle if Glory 0 Frame with coil shock weigh 5 kg .... still it must be lighter than Faith If I have money I will consider Glory 0, but I think it won't be possible, going to France is more important
    And I think that you, yoonior, will end up with SX Trail anyway ! ( just remember that swingarms used to break on those Enduros....)
    My friend had opportunity to put Glory 1 M and Glosy 0 S on scale.
    He has just wrote me that G1 M was 20kg w/ pedals and G0 S w/o 19,9kg pedals... I will be ble to check on my own within 2-3 week... but I am a little bit disappointed :|
    Yeah that's disappointing! G1 M - 20 kg with pedals, that;s exactly the same as my friends Faith M with Boxxer Ride (3.2 kg) on it... and G1 has a single crown.... G0 S w/o pedals is even worse... with pedals and In Large size it would weigh as much as my Faith which is 20.5 kg.... In such a case I'm going to switch to air front and rear on my Faith, rather than change it for Glory.... at least it made my decision easier....
    mine is small frame, weighs exactly 5 kilos with rear axle.
    you will not feel the weight once you pedal. its really amazing.
    I am still up in the air about putting a DHX Air on my new 07 Glory for DH racing. I would love to save the weight though.
    The bike looks sweet man. They are now telling me the 07 will ship on the 4th. We will see.
    Ride!
