Been riding the bike since January 2011, first time this has broken. Anyone in Ontario had this issue? And if so which shop did you order the link from?
Well it happened again - This time I cut off the upper ISCG tab and I'm replacing it with the other lower link from the Reign (non-X) - my only issue now is replacing the bearings in the frame which are in poor condition now...

Does anyone know what the bearing specifications are? OD, ID and thickness? or if there's any number printed on theirs? I was hoping to order them from a local bearing shop today and avoid paying Giant $60 for 4 bearings.

They're still in the frame, so I'd like to see if I can find the specs & order them then take them to a shop to have them swapped. Otherwise I'd have to take it to a shop, get them removed, then find the bearings and return to the shop.

Thanks for any/all help - this thread saved my bike!

I too have the same problem. I just broke my 3rd linkage in as many years. I don't have an authorized Giant LBS. So unless any new information has come to light I guess I need to go with the remedy that voids my frames warranty. This is also a Giant pain in the ass since it appears Giant won't talk directly to the consumer. I you search their site for the word warranty it says
    "Search
    Sorry, no results..."

Through good I found their FAQ page and this BS
    "
    7. Does Giant have a Consumer Help Line?
No, Giant does not have a Consumer Help Line. Please contact your local Giant retailer for any questions that you may have and if necessary the retailer will contact Giant. To find your nearest Giant retailer, go to Giant Bicycles | Offical site, choose USA, and then click on Store Finder on the home page. You will be taken to our Dealer Locator where you can simply type in your city or zip code and the locator will find your nearest Giant retailer.

Anyway just fishing for solutions that don't involve cutting up my bike.

Were any of them v3 links? I'm still on my original v3 after three years of hard riding. There's a pic a page or so back showing the difference in width...

    update

Didn't the V3 requiring grinding the BB tab down (not off). If that's the case would they let a non-authorized LBS to do the work without voiding the warranty?

Sure wish Giant would at least talk to their customers

Update: I just posted about my problem on Giant's FB page so if anyone feels like piling on maybe we can get some attention.

Nope. The v3 just has more meat around the ISCG cutouts...

What is the part # of the Reign (not Reign X) lower link?
    The photo was kinda blurred.

i know it's been said before and said elsewhere, but I find it appalling that Giant hasn't addressed this in a meaningful way.

I'm now in the predicament the I have no Giant authorized LBS and the place I bought it from isn't carrying Giant anymore. I emailed Giant headquarters with no response. So Giant won't talk to me, they won't talk to my LBS and they won't talk to the shop I bought the bike from. WTF am I supposed to do? To me the problem with this linkage pales in comparison to there systemic customer service problem.

i had a similar issue, in that I had moved to a new country. i did find a dealer that would help me out though. PM me if you're in the US or Canada, as I think I have a shop in each country that would help you out and order the part for you (plus S&H I would imagine, for their services)
not to take anything away from your issue - i hear you. it is a PITA.

Just to keep things going... I snapped my second one this weekend. This was one of the v2 ones I think (bought 2 yrs ago when the original went). Giant UK are warrantying it, I was thinking of doing the fix, but figure if they still warranty it, then it's all good!

I'm still on a V2 (still has that cutout for the mount), but it seems to be holding together pretty well. Giant seems to be good about their warranty on these parts which is great to hear!

2009 Giant Reign Large Lower Link Fracture

This thread has been invaluable. The lower link on my 2009 Giant Reign 1, not a Reign X, fractured last week whilst climbing a single track uphill in first gear. Looking into warranty claim with Dealer.

Has anyone else heard of Reign rather than Reign X lower link fractures? This should just not happen. Given number of reported lower link fractures this should be a safety recall.

Broke my reign x2 lower link too!!

[Greetings my fellow riders...i share the same sentiments. Where can i possibly look for a replacement linkage for my 2010 reign x2?The location of breakage is the same as posted here in this forum. I am glad i found this forum. I am desperately in need of one. I am sort of enduro/ all mtn/ freeride/ dh rider. Weighing 165lbs; 5'7". I have my mongoose pinn'r for my gravity riding and reign x2 for my all mtn-enduro needs. Need help guys on this matter. Thanks alot. QUOTE=jvm051;7062092]So if the linkage breaks what other sort of stress is it placing on the rest of the frame when this happens? I would think it would put additional stress on the weld locations associated with the linkage? I understand that Giant has wonderful customer service regarding warranty claims, but why have we not seen any type of response yet? Does anyone know the phone or email to a Giant Rep that I could contact for some information. Possibly direct them to this link for possible updates. It kinda sucks to have to look at the link every time I go out for a ride, and considering how well hidden this area is with the tensioner, FD and crankset in the way it would be nice to know that a fix is in the works. Looking at the area now in the pictures where it breaks, I wonder how this passed through R&D and testing initially? Seeing as how the ISCG tabs are not even clocked correctly from what I have read, and the factory Race Face tensioner does not even use the upper bolt I am dumbfounded. What is it going to take to get this fixed? Some serious injuries or deaths to riders before this is corrected? This bike is too damm much fun to ride, and I don't really want to pawn off a possible safety issue on someone else by selling the bike.[/QUOTE]

I found that the front Derailleur gives a hit to the link and broken him in the situation of Rear Shocks press to the maximom.
The front Derailleur need to adjust more higher in then it will not give strikes to the link
In order to examine if you have the problem ? Please will withdraw the air from Rear Shocks and press down the bicycle and examine if the front Derailleur touching to the Link ..if yes adjust the front Derailleur more higher until it will not touch to the link
I hope that will help at least to several of friends here.

    I have a 2010 Reign X1 Large (175lbs)
Just broke my lower link for the third time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Called the Giant Dealer and He has no idea if he can even get the part anymore.

Seriously - with all the riders out there who have had this happen...it should have been a recall - any lawyers out there? Is there any possible lawsuit.

I'm really sick of this issue - now I'm out a bike most likely several weeks till it gets fixed and then cannot even feel confident in my bike or safety.
